Zimbabwe may have not been part of an ICC event from quite some time now but they have done well in all the bilaterals that they have been part of, across the formats. They did an excellent job of defeating Pakistan in the recently concluded T20I World Cup and would want to take momentum from that into this upcoming series.
Sikandar Raza was undoubtedly their key man in the World Cup and while he would have played a vital role here, he has decided to miss the series for the ILT20 Dubai. The other players will have to step up their game to fill up the void that Raza's absence has made. If that happens, Zimbabwe will be in it big time.

While Ireland did a decent job in the recently concluded T20I World Cup, there were certainly left longing for more. They have not shown as much progress as they would have wanted to ever since breaking into the international scene.
This series would give them a chance to not only test their bench strength but also help them gain some confidence, if they are able to do well here. They have some of the most exciting T20 cricketers around who all have the experience of playing in different leagues across the globe. If they are able to come good here, Zimbabweans will certainly have their work cut out.

Zimbabwe definitely have the home advantage, but Ireland have a well established side that is capable of adapting to any conditions. Having said that, they do not have Josh Little and Paul Stirling at their disposal and that certainly is a big miss. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, are missing Raza but have Gary Ballance to compensate for the missing experience. On all those accounts, Zimbabwe seem to be the better-balanced side and are therefore our pick as the favorites to emerge on top.
