Warriors Women

The Warriors started their campaign on a positive note as they defeated the Sapphires in their opening fixture. However, their latest match was washed out due to the rain. Nevertheless, they still occupy the top spot on the points table.

Phoebe Litchfield is in excellent form for the Warriors and the team will once again depend on her for a good start. The Warriors lack players with experience in the top order of their batting line-up and that could be a problem, especially under pressure situations.

They are led by Sindhu Sriharsha, who leads the USA Women’s T20 squad and has played only 22 international games in her career. Much will depend on the performance of Mignon du Preez and Kathryn Bryce during the middle overs if the Warriors want to score big runs. Shamilia Connell, Allison Siu, and Jess Kerr will lead the pace attack, while Amanda-Jade Wellington is the only specialist spinner.

West Indian veteran Hayley Matthews did feature in the opening fixture but missed out on the last match. If she is included back in the squad, she will be a key performer with both, the bat as well as the ball.

Falcons Women

It has been a mixed bag for the Falcons so far as after winning their opening game, they faced a defeat against the Barmy Army in their latest fixture. As a result, they have slipped to the second spot on the points table.

The team will no doubt look at the positives from the last match as their opening pair of Chamari Athapaththu and Dani Wyatt put up a brilliant performance, putting up a 77-run partnership for the first wicket. However, things went rapidly downhill after the departure of Danni Wyatt as the team lost wickets at regular intervals as the chase faltered. The middle-order batters will need to step up if the Falcons want a favorable result here.

Suzie Bates, who is leading the team isn’t in the best of forms, while Marizanne Kapp scored her second consecutive duck of the season. Theertha Satish, who scored a half-century in the opening game will be expected to put up yet another good performance here.

The Falcons have a strong bowling line-up consisting of Marizanne Kapp and Jahanara Alam as their pace spearheads, while Sornnarin Tippoch and Chamari Athapaththu will fill in during the middle overs.
