WOR vs LAN Match Prediction - Jun 20, 2023

The race for the final four spots in the North Group is heating up, and nothing is more crucial than wins right now. Worcestershire had a fantastic start to the season, but then dropped four straight games without showing any signs of fight. They finally got back on track with a victory over Leicestershire, but are currently fifth on the table.

Likewise, Lancashire were also in a tailspin with four straight losses, but have looked impeccable in their last few matches with three victories in a row. They’re currently in the second spot just behind Birmingham, and could certainly rise to the top with the right poise and performance.

Worcestershire vs. Lancashire will take place at the County Ground, Worcester, on June 20th. Check out all our predictions for the latest cricket matches.

WOR vs LAN Team Previews

Worcestershire

Worcestershire will have to bring everything they’ve got if they intend to make a serious go at the knockout round. Those four straight losses really hurt their chances, but the recent win over Leicestershire is a step in the right direction.

Despite being the team’s top-scoring batter, Adam Hose (266) has looked a bit iffy in his last few games. With scores of 11, 36, and 5, Hose could be doing more to help his team.

D'Oliveira (264) is looking better than ever and is the batsman that Worcestershire will need to rely on, as he’s picked up 148 runs in his last three games. Ali has also appeared shaky, as apart from one effort of 48*, he’s had three performances below five runs in his last five games.

The most efficient bowler for the team of late has undoubtedly been spinner Usama Mir, as he’s had two great games in a row, with 3/22 and 4/22. Although he’s only bowled in five innings, he’s proving useful so far with a total of 12/122. D'Oliveira is great with the ball (13/188), but Brown is struggling somewhat recently. He has the most wickets (16), but at the expense of 314 runs and only had two wickets in his last three matches.

Worcestershire Playing 11

Brett D Oliveira, Jack Haynes, Mitchell Santner, Adam Hose, Kashif Ali, Ben Cox, Ed Pollock, Usama Mir, Josh Tongue, Dillon Pennington, Pat Brown.

Lancashire

There’s no doubt that the two batters keeping Lancashire in control are Mitchell (383) and Croft (285), especially after Croft’s massive 101 runs in a recent win. Mitchell is just incredibly consistent and this is exactly what the team need right now. His 54.71 average is outstanding and he’s had four straight games above 30 runs. Croft’s century seemed to come out of nowhere, but it’s great to see him performing.

Buttler has given the team a good effort with 124 runs in six innings, although we’re a bit disappointed with Phil Salt’s batting. Salt is underwhelming in eight innings with only 128 runs and a high score of 34, which is far too low for an opening batter.

Luke Wood is certainly the team’s most reliable bowler in 10 innings, as 13/285 (7.73 ER) is a remarkable effort. It can be surprising to see him take 3/39 in one match and then 0/21 in another, but he’s still someone you want on the team.

Mitchell is proving to be valuable with both the bat and ball, as his bowling figures are fantastic as well, with 9/203 so far and an epic 3/9 in just two overs against Worcestershire.

Lancashire Playing 11

Philip Salt, Jos Buttler, Luke Wells, Daryl Mitchell, Liam Livingstone, Dane Vilas, Rob Jones, Tom Hartley, Luke Wood, Tom Bailey, Jack Blatherwick.

WOR vs LAN Toss Prediction

Because the side batting second has won the game 32 out of 55 times, bowling first is a very alluring choice. Scores of about 230 have been recorded, thus this T20 encounter might very well see one of those again.

Pitch and Conditions

As bowlers rarely experience much swing or bounce, the County Ground surface often swings more in the batters' direction. Heavy hitters can benefit greatly from the smaller boundaries and fast outfield of this field. Later in the game, the pitch really gets better later on, which benefits bowling first.

WOR vs LAN Betting Tips

Lancashire will certainly be the favourite here, but we like the 10Cric odds for Worcestershire in this match and genuinely think they can win. For one, D'Oliveira is one of the best allrounders in the league, and Mir is helping out at the right time.

Hose will need to step up for Worcestershire with the bat, but they could get a break if Lancashire’s Luke Wood has another bad game with the ball. Croft and Mitchell won’t be easy to stop, but hopefully Mir can bamboozle them on a good bowling pitch.

Bet on Worcestershire to win.

Luke Wood still has the lowest odds, which makes it not really worth betting on him. However, we will choose Mitchell as the odds are high and he can certainly perform well as a bowler. He's earned 9/203 so far, and it was only a few days ago where he got 3/9 against Worcestershire.

    Brett D'Oliveira Total Runs - 18.5: Over

It's a good bet to make as D'Oliveira is in the zone right now and has 48 & 60 in his last two games. Scoring over 18.5 should be a walk in the park, as he hasn't scored 264 runs so far by chance.

    Lancashire Top Batter: Steven Croft

It's a bit of a surprise to see Croft with pretty good odds, as he's one of the best batters on the team with 285 total runs and a century in his last match. He can have some bad games and isn't always consistent, but the odds are too good to miss and it's a good chance to get a decent sum back.
