WI vs ENG Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Dec 09, 2023

It is 1-1 heading into the third and final ODI of the series between West Indies and England. In a lot of ways, this series is pretty meaningless because we have just finished the ODI World Cup and the next one is not for another four years. Also, the spots for the Champions Trophy have also been decided. However, an international match is still an international match and we are sure both teams would love a series victory.

Also, the best betting apps in India are offering some excellent odds on this match.

West Indies vs England Head-to-Head record

Of the 104 ODIs played between the two teams, England has won 53, while the West Indies have emerged on top in 45 games. 6 matches have had no result. Recent form is more pertinent, though, and that shows the contest as being quite close. England has won three out of the previous five ODI's against West Indies.

West Indies

West Indies was a bit lucky to win the first match. The statistical chances of it winning after the 40th Over of its inning were less than 3%. Shai Hope and Romario Shepherd, though, won that game with sheer individual brilliance. To expect the same thing again in the next match was a bit foolhardy.

What we saw was a return to form from the West Indies. Their batting struggled and only Shai Hope managed to really put up a fight. He followed up his century in the opening match with a fifty and remains the most important wicket in the entire match.

Alick Athanaze, Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, and Sherfane Rutherford are all solid players but consistency is not something that we expect from them. The batting lineup revolves around Hope and if he gets out cheaply, we could see the West Indies struggle to put up a fight.

As far as the bowling goes, Motie has been the standout in terms of both wickets and the economy rate at which he bowls. The faster bowlers have been quite expensive, especially Alzarri Joseph, and have been unable to keep the pressure on the English batters.

Romari Shepherd has been among the wickets and is a good option to back in this match to do well overall.

England

England struck back strongly in the second ODI after a poor performance in the first one. Sam Curran, who bowled one of the most expensive spells in ODI history in the first match, bowled brilliantly to pick up three wickets. Liam Livingstone also picked up three wickets while Rehan Ahmed and Gus Atkinson picked up two each.

England's bowling was right on the money and never let the West Indian batters get away. We think the bowling lineup will remain unchanged for this next match as well. The challenge for the England bowlers will be to adapt if they are unable to pick up early wickets with the new ball but the spinners have raised a lot of confidence after their success.

The batting lineup went hard from the very start. Will Jacka cleared the boundary four times and did not slow down even when wickets fell around him. Crawley and Duckett need to just find their feet a bit otherwise the English top order looks wobbly.

Runs for Harry Brook and Jos Buttler will make the English camp feel a lot better. At this point, betting on England to hit more sixes on 1xBet or one of the other leading bookmakers seems like free money!

England may have had a rough time in the ODI's but it is still better than the West Indies in almost all respects.

WI vs ENG Toss Prediction

The match will be played at Barbados, a venue where team winning the toss and chasing have won 57% of the matches. That is a significant advantage and we think both teams will want to chase if they get the option to.

Pitch and Conditions

There is no rain predicted in Bridgetown, Barbados on match day but there are some clouds expected to be around. A look at the stats will show you that the overall average score at this venue is 227 but if you look at the recent data (last five years), then you will see that the scores have been much higher.

Usually the bounce and pace on offer is quite good and stroke makers from both sides should be able to take advantage.

We think something around 270-300 is definitely on the cards.

WI vs ENG Betting Tips

England is a stronger batting lineup in terms of power but its high-risk style of playing also makes it prone to collapses. The West Indies, on the other hand, seem to be a bit too dependent on Shai Hope. The odds on offer for England to win are not the greatest but we still think you should back the visitors in this match.

The fact that their best batter is now in form and the bowling attack is performing nicely should help its edge this contest.

Bet on England to win.
