After losing their opening fixture, Washington Freedom has won back-to-back matches and have climbed up to the 3rd spot on the points table. With just the NRR separating the top 4 teams, a win here will all but guarantee them a spot in the next stage.
Opener Matthew Short is in good form and will be looking to give the team a brisk start along with Andries Gous. The duo put up a 68-run partnership in just over 5 overs in the last match. The middle-order batsmen Mukhtar Ahmed, Glenn Phillips, and Moises Henriques have batted well in patches but will need to shoulder more responsibility going ahead.
All-rounders Obus Pienaar and Marco Jansen are capable of scoring quick runs towards the end of the innings and add depth to the batting. The latter has bowled well, picking up 5 wickets in 3 matches, and is the joint-highest wicket-taker for the team along with Henriques.
