Texas Super Kings

The Texas Super Kings made a winning start to their campaign by defeating the Los Angeles Knight Riders in their opening fixture. The match was a pretty one-sided affair thanks to an all-round performance by the Super Kings.

Texas Super Kings will once again bank on its powerful batting line-up to put up a good total here.

They have some of the biggest hitters in white-ball cricket, including Faf Du Plessis, Devon Conway, and David Miller at their disposal. Local players Lahiru Milantha and Milind Kumar are capable of striking some lusty blows too, while all-rounders Mitchell Santner and Dwayne Bravo add depth to the batting.

On the bowling front, Rusty Theron Calvin Savage are likely to start the proceedings with the new ball, and Dwayne Bravo will play an important role too, especially at the death. Mohammad Mohsin was brilliant with his leg breaks in the previous match, picking up 4 wickets for just 8 runs and the team will be expecting a similar performance from him here. 

Washington Freedom

The Washington Freedom will be pretty disappointed with its performance in the opening match, where they lost to the Seattle Orcas by 5 wickets. Given the fact that each team plays the other 5 just once during the group stages, Freedom will need to bounce back soon to keep its qualification hopes alive.

The batting could be one of the biggest weaknesses for Freedom here as only a few top-order batsmen, including Matthew Short, Glenn Phillips, and Shad Ali are experienced in terms of international League cricket. While Mukhtar Ahmed and Andries Gous are undoubtedly talented, they are more likely to crumble under pressure from a quality bowling attack.

This puts added pressure of scoring runs on all-rounders Moises Henriques and Marco Jansen. The bowling on the other hand is pretty strong, thanks to seamers Anrich Nortje, Henriques, and Jansen. Local boy Saurabh Netravalkar too has put up some good performances in his recent outings.
