It was a comprehensive 9-wicket win over Manchester Originals. During their chase, Lizelle Lee combined placement with power by hitting 44 runs from 27 balls with 2 sixes and 6 fours. She shared an opening wicket partnership of 60 runs with Bryony Smith. After the loss of the first wicket, the Trent skipper finished things off in style hitting 33 runs from 18 balls.

The Trent Rockets women would have fancied their chances of successfully hunting down the target of 108 runs for a victory. This target appeared to be a foregone conclusion when the Trent team was off to a flying start with Lee and Smith piling up 49 runs in the powerplay. Smith pulled, swept, and drove her way to provide this early impetus. None of the Manchester bowlers was spared from this attack by the openers. In the 22nd game of the Hundred Competition for Women for the 2023 season, Birmingham Phoenix Women played against Southern Brave Women on 16th August. This match was played at Southampton earlier in the competition. The Southern Brave Women batted first and scored 132 runs for the loss of 4 wickets from their quota of 100 balls. The Birmingham Phoenix women made a valiant effort for reaching this target. But they were to fall short by a slender margin of 3 runs during their chase.

Tammy Beaumont and Smriti Mandhana from the Southern Brave team are back at the top of the batting charts as Birmingham Phoenix women crashed to yet another defeat at the hands of Southern Brave Women in their last effort. The Birmingham Phoenix team played three spinners in this game but all of them were milked for runs. Only Katie Levick was successful in picking up a wicket as she got Georgia Adams stumped in the match. Although Phoenix women lost the wicket of Sophie Devine early, Eve Jones and Sterre Kalis managed to develop a partnership of 40 runs later.

Both these set batters got out within 9 balls of each other. The Southern Brave spinners Adams and Kalea Moore put their team right back on top by removing these set batters. There was another good partnership between Jones and Burns that took the visitors close to the target but they were to fall short of it in the end. Burns managed to strike Adams for the first 6 of the innings then she hit another delivery for a four but she ended up getting caught at long on after that. Bell developed pressure over the Phoenix batters near the end, with crucial dot balls to restrict them 3 runs short of the target.
