Sydney Thunder

Unlike their neighbours, the Sydney Thunder hasn’t been off to the best of starts as they have lost 3 of their 4 matches so far. With a shortened group stage this season, the Thunder will look to bounce back to remain in the hunt for the playoffs.

A couple of Thunder players have put up brilliant individual performances this season. Cameron Bancroft is in sublime form with the bat and has scored 175 runs in 4 innings. He is second in the list of top run-getters this season. He is likely to be joined by Alex Hales at the top of the order.

Oliver Davies has got a couple of good starts but he is yet to play a big inning. Similarly, more will be expected from the likes of Jason Sangha and Alex Ross. Daniel Sams is in brilliant form with the ball and has picked up 9 wickets in his last 2 outings. He is now the leading wicket-taker of the season.

Sams will be joined by Zaman Khan, Gurinder Sandhu, and Nathan McAndrew in the seam department. Tanveer Sangha has bowled a couple of good spells and has picked up 5 wickets so far.

He will join Chris Green in the spin attack.

Sydney Sixers

The Sydney Sixers have had a good run this season as they won each of their first 3 matches. As a result, they are sitting quite comfortably in the top 4. However, the team did lose its latest fixture against the Melbourne Stars.

Josh Philippe and James Vince make up for a strong opening pair and will look to give the team a brisk start. James Vince was in particularly good form in the last match as he scored 83 from just 55 deliveries. Jordan Silk is the leading run-scorer for the Sixers this season with 116 runs.

He, along with Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques, Jack Edwards, and Joel Davies makes up for a solid middle order. The Sixers have a pretty strong seam attack thanks to the presence of quality seamers like Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, and Jackson Bird.

Bird has picked up 6 wickets so far and is the top wicket-taker for his team. The spin department consists of Steve OKeefe and Todd Murphy but they haven’t been very effective so far.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the Sydney Showground Stadium is well-balanced. The seamers will get some swing with the new ball and the batsmen will need to settle down before they can start playing the big shots. A score of around 155 is a par score on this ground.

The slower bowlers can expect some grip and turn as the ball gets softer and older. The weather is likely to remain overcast and there may be some occasional drizzling.

The temperature will remain around 21 degrees Celsius.
