SYT vs ADS Team Previews

Sydney Thunder

After playing 8 matches in the group stages, the Sydney Thunder have managed to win just 1 match so far. With such a dismal run, the team is already eliminated from the race to the playoffs. Nevertheless, the team will still look to win the remaining two matches and bow out on a high.

Buoyed by the return of its international star David Warner, Sydney Thunder was off to a flying start in the Sydney Derby on Friday as they set out to chase the 152-run target. However, like it has been the norm for most of this season, the batting saw a collapse and Thunder slid to its 4th consecutive defeat, ending all hopes of qualifying.

Nevertheless, Warner and Hales will once again look to give the team a strong start. With the likes of Cameron Bancroft, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, and Oliver Davies following lower down the order, there is no dearth of firepower in Thunder’s batting.

However, the team does lack quality all-rounders and as a result, suffers from a lack of batting depth.

Daniel Sams has been in excellent form with the ball and has picked up 12 wickets this season. But the other seamers including Liam Hatcher and Nathan McAndrew haven’t been consistent enough.

Similarly, Tanveer Sangha has been brilliant with his leg breaks but has failed to pick up wickets at regular intervals.

Adelaide Strikers

The Adelaide Strikers had a slow start to the season as the team managed to win just 1 of the first 6 matches. Nevertheless, the team has picked up steam in the last couple of weeks and is coming into this contest on the back of 3 consecutive victories.

They are sitting 4th on the points table, albeit by a slim margin. The Strikers will need to win here to keep their chances of qualifying alive.

There have been some brilliant individual performances from the Strikers. Matthew Short and Chris Lynn are the top two run-getters of this season, while Jamie Overton is 2nd on the list of top wicket-takers. D’Arcy Short has played a couple of good knocks at the top of the order.

However, the performance of Thomas Kelly, Harry Nielsen, and Adam Hose has been far from perfect. With Chris Lynn out of action due to injury, all eyes will be on Jake Weatherald, who scored a half-century on his last outing.

Coming to the bowling, Overton has received good support from David Payne and Henry Thornton in the pace department, while Cameron Boyce, who heads the spin department, has picked up 8.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at Manuka Oval is well-balanced, providing equal opportunities to both, the batsmen and bowlers. The new ball swings and seams around and the batsmen will have to wait before they can start playing their shots. The average first-inning score on this ground is around 170.

There is also something in this pitch for the slower bowlers. We can expect a close contest between the bat and the ball.

The weather in Canberra is likely to be overcast throughout the day with temperatures of between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius.

SYT vs ADS Betting Tips

Sydney Thunder has been underwhelming, to say the least. Despite having some excellent players playing for them, the Thunder have failed to perform as a unit and are unlikely to bounce back. On the other hand, with a spot in the playoffs on the line, the Adelaide Strikers are likely to bring their A-game to the field.
