The Sixers are among the most successful teams in the history of BBL, having lifted the title on 3 occasions. In the last season, Sydney Sixers finished 2nd on the points table but lost both their qualifier matches and failed to make it to the finals.
The Sixers have managed to retain most of its core players and have also added new faces to strengthen its team further. Led by the indomitable Moises Henriques, the Sixers picked up Tom Curran and James Vince during the draft picks. Vince is likely to open the batting and will be joined by Josh Philippe.
However, the latter hasn’t been in the best of forms during his latest outings and will be looking to turn things around. Steve Smith, who was brilliant during his limited BBL 12 stint, is available for this match, adding heft to the number 3 slot. The seam attack will be led by Sean Abbott, who is the most successful bowler in BBL history.
He will be joined by Jackson Bird and Hayden Kerr. The spin department is likely to be a weakness for the hosts, especially as they let go of Nathan Lyon. With Rehan Ahmed away for international duty, Steve O’Keefe remains the only quality option.

Melbourne Renegades
The Renegades were 3rd on the points table last season but lost out to Brisbane Heat in the knockout stage. As they make a fresh beginning, we can expect a better performance from them.
The biggest addition to the squad, by far, is that of Quinton de Kock. He was in blazing form during the recently concluded ODI World Cup but he is unlikely to be available for this match.
In such a case, Joe Clarke may open the batting along with Nic Maddinson, while Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh, and Jake Fraser-McGurk will provide firepower to the middle order.
Will Sutherland will likely feature in the role of a finisher. Coming to the bowling, coming to the bowling, Kane Richardson, Tom Rogers, and Peter Siddle are likely to lead the attack with the new ball. Rogers was particularly impressive in the last season, picking up 23 wickets.
Mujeeb ur Rahman has been retained in the spin department and will join Adam Zampa, who comes in from across the Stars.
