SYD vs ADS Team Previews

Sydney Sixers

The Sydney Sixers have had a great start to their campaign, winning both the matches played so far. They are currently second on the points table and another win here will help them will help them consolidate their position.

Josh Philippe and James Vince are likely to open the batting for the Sixers in this match. Phillippe has had a good start in both matches but has yet to play a big inning. However, James Vince hasn’t had the best of times so far. The Sixers’ biggest strength is its middle order.

Daniel Hughes, who replaced Steve Smith in the second match, was in sublime form as he scored an unbeaten 60. He was well supported by Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk. With Tom Curran and Jack Edwards following lower down the order, there is no dearth of batting talent for the home team.

Ben Dwarshuis is in excellent form with the ball and has picked up 5 wickets in 2 matches. He will lead the seam department alongside Jackson Bird. Todd Murphy and Steve OKeefe make up for a potent spin attack.

Adelaide Strikers

The Strikers scored a thrilling win on Tuesday as they defeated the Sydney Thunder in a high-scoring encounter at the Adelaide Oval. Brimming with confidence, the team will now set its sights on the Sixers.

Matthew Short and D’Arcy Short were in prime form as they put up a 126-run partnership for the opening wicket. While Chris Lynn and Jake Weatherald had a relatively subdued outing, they are quality players who can take the game away in a matter of just a few overs.

Adam Hose played an excellent cameo to take the team over the line. The Strikers have plenty of depth in their batting thanks to James Bazley and Harry Nielsen. Jamie Overton, who was making his BBL debut, bowled an excellent spell, picking up 2 wickets for 29 runs.

He will lead the pace attack alongside David Payne and Wes Agar. Cameron Boyce and Matthew Short will feature in the spin department. However, they are not the most accurate when it comes to the line and length and will need to be disciplined.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the SCG is well-balanced and there is a good amount of pace and bounce on offer. The pitch has a light covering of grass and the ball comes onto the bat. A score of around 175 is a par score. However, the pitch does slow down ever so slightly in the second half, aiding the spinners.

The temperature is likely to be pleasant at around 20 degrees Celsius.

SYD vs ADS Betting Tips

    Highest Opening Partnership

    Adelaide Strikers (1.909)

Both, Matthew Short and D’Arcy Short were in excellent form in the last match for the Strikers and we expect them to play well. On the other hand, James Vince hasn’t played well for the Sixers. We, therefore, think that the Strikers will put up the bigger opening partnership.

  1. Parimatch

Ben Dwarshuis to pick up over 1.5 wickets

Ben Dwarshuis is in good form this season. He has picked up at least 2 wickets in both his outings so far and is among the leading wicket-takers of the season. We are therefore backing him to bowl another good spell.

  1. 10CRIC

    Highest individual score

    Over 67.5 (1.87)

As the pitch at the SCG is good to bat on and there are some quality batsmen on both teams, we are expecting at least one of them to play a big inning.
