Surrey

In the quarter-final of the T20 Blast competition, Surrey played against Durham. This day/night affair saw Durham bat first to raise a score of 162 runs for the loss of eight wickets from their quota of twenty overs. The Surrey team easily chased this target in 18 overs with five wickets to spare. The performance of the opening ball bowlers, Daniel Worrall and Reece Topley, were primarily responsible for the good restriction job done by the Surrey bowlers. They picked up two wickets each and were pretty frugal as well.

Surrey also did not get off to a good start and lost a couple of wickets early on in their innings. But Dom Sibley scored 67 runs from 48 balls with six fours and two sixes to stabilize the Surrey chase. In the middle order, Sam Curran scored a terrific half-century that enabled Surrey to hunt down this target comfortably in the end. Curran scored 52 runs from 34 balls with four sixes and two fours. Tom Curran and Jamie Overton were left to get the team across the line in 18 overs.

Somerset

Somerset played its quarter-final against Northamptonshire. This was the third quarter-final of the competition, and it was also a day/night game played at Northampton. The Somerset team batted first to score 215 runs while losing just three wickets from their twenty overs. Surprisingly, the Northamptonshire team made a game effort to chase this target and got reasonably close to it. But they fell short by seventeen runs in the end. Tom Banton was adjudged the Player of the Match for his 73 runs from 43 balls.

Somerset lost the early wicket of Will Smeed during their batting effort. But after that, they saw a century stand between Tom Banton and Tom Kohler-Cadmore that raised 125 runs. Banton scored 75 runs from 43 balls with five sixes and six fours, while Kohler-Cadmore hit 63 from 43 balls with five sixes and two fours. Sean Dickson and the Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory took the total past two hundred mark. Lewis Gregory was also the best bowler for Somerset, picking up three wickets for 35 runs from four overs. Craig Overton and Jake Bell picked up one wicket each.
