The Sylhet Strikers will be very disappointed with the way things have panned out this season. After playing 5 matches, the team has yet to register a win and is firmly placed at the bottom of the points table. The team’s NRR is also one of the worst this season.
Barring Zakir Hasan, none of the batsmen have managed to play well so far. Hasan is the most consistent performer with 189 runs scored at an average of 47.25. Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was the leading run-getter of the previous tournament, has struggled to get going in all the matches, with his highest score being 36.
He will open the batting alongside Shamsur Rahman. The team does have quite a few all-rounders but they haven’t been able to make a significant contribution. More will be expected from the likes of Ryan Burl, Benny Howell, and Samit Patel.
The bowling has been pretty ordinary too. Richard Ngarava is the leading wicket-taker with 5 wickets but has received little support from Mashrafe Mortaza and Rejaur Rahman. The spin attack consists of Nayeem Hasan and Samit Patel.
