Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have given the team some brisk starts this season and are averaging 73.00 as a pair. The Punjab Kings on the other hand haven’t been able to find a stable opening pair due to injuries and unavailability of players.
Harshal Patel is the leading wicket-taker of this season. He has picked up at least 2 wickets in 5 of his last 7 outings, including each of his last 3 matches.
The Rajiv Gandhi Stadium has hosted some high-scoring matches this season and has an average first-inning run rate of 10 runs per over. As both teams, particularly SRH have some big hitters, we can expect a couple of big overs in this match.
Having already secured a spot in the playoffs, the Sunrisers Hyderabad will push for a top-two finish as they host the Punjab Kings for what will be the last group-stage match for both teams on Sunday.
Both teams have faced each other in 22 matches to date. The Sunrisers have won 15 of those games, while the Punjab Kings have managed to win only 7.
This match can be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or watched live on the Star Sports Network.
The Sunrisers’ latest fixture against the Gujarat Titans was washed out, earning both teams a solitary point. As a result, SRH has now officially qualified for the playoffs. If SRH wins here and the Rajasthan Royals lose their last match, the former will finish in the 2nd place.
A lot will depend on Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The duo has proved to be one of the most devastating opening pairs in the League and will yet again look to give the team a strong start.
The middle order’s performance hasn’t been reliable and their inability to score runs has already cost the team a few games. That said, players like Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy can hit the big shots at will and can be quite devastating on their day.
The Sunrisers have a strong pace attack consisting of T Natarajan, Pat Cummins, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, and Jaydev Unadkat. What the team lacks is a solid spin department.
Having already been eliminated from the race to the playoffs, the Punjab Kings put up a brave effort in their latest outing to hand the Rajasthan Royals a thumping loss. They would like to put up a similar performance in this match and end their campaign on a high.
However, that will not be easy as the Punjab Kings will be playing without two of their key players, Sam Curran and Johnny Bairstow, both of whom have departed for England. This means that Chris Woakes could get a chance to start the match.
Most of the heavy lifting in the batting line-up will be done by Prabhsimran Singh, Rilee Rossouw, Shashank Singh, and Ashutosh Sharma. The latter two have been in good form this season and provide heft to the middle order.
Harshal Patel is in brilliant form and is the leading wicket-taker of the season with 22 wickets.
He is likely to share the new ball with Arshdeep Singh and Nathan Ellis. Rahul Chahar has bowled well in the last few matches and will lead the spin department.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at Hyderabad is excellent to bat on. The average first-inning score here this season is over 200 runs. However, since it has been raining here for the last few days, there is likely to be some moisture in the pitch and that will help the quicker bowlers. \
The weather is likely to be overcast with occasional showers during the day. The temperature will remain around 35 degrees.
While the Punjab Kings played well in the last match, they will find it difficult to continue with the same momentum especially as they are playing without some of their key players. On the other hand, the Sunrisers have a full-strength squad and are likely to end up on top.
Bet on the Sunrisers Hyderabad to win the match.
