Spirit Women

Just like their opponents, the Spirit Women too have remained undefeated this season and have won both their matches so far. They trail the Warriors by 2.5 points and a win here will help them reach the summit.

Skipper Nicola Carey played a blistering knock in their latest encounter as they defeated the Sapphires by 12 runs and she will be looking to carry on with that form here. Sarah Bryce and Natthakan Chantam will most likely open the batting for Spirit, with Bismah Mahroof coming in at number 3.

The lower-order batters including Nensi Patel and Naruemol Chaiwai haven’t been able to get going so far, but Mahika Gaur and Gargi Bhogle were able to score some important runs for the team and that should give them some amount of confidence.

Much will depend on the performance of Ayabonga Khaka, who will be leading the pace attack. She picked up 4 wickets in her last outing and is now the leading wicket-taker for the team. Shizuka Miyaji, who was one of Spirit’s go-to bowler in the last season hasn’t been much successful so far and will hope to turn things around here.

Warriors Women

With 2 wins in 3 matches and a third match getting washed out, the Warriors are sitting comfortably at the top of the points table. A win here will go a great deal in cementing their place there.

The Warriors faced the Falcons in their most recent encounter and won it quite comfortably thanks to an all-round performance by the team. Kathryn Bryce, Yasmin Khan, and Jess Kerr picked up two wickets each to limit the opposition to a modest total of 133.

Ellie Johnston and Phoebe Litchfield gave the team a solid start, putting up an 87-run opening stand, while Yasmin Khan stayed almost till the end to ensure a smooth win for the team. Despite lacking the big names, the Warriors have risen to the occasion and dominated the opposition.

However, the form of skipper Sindhu Sriharsha and Mignon du Preez remains a cause of concern for the team. Esha Oza and Shanzeen Shahzad provide depth to their batting. In the bowling department, the Warriors will once again depend on the likes of Jess Kerr, Amanda-Jade Wellington, and Kathryn Bryce to bowl a good line and length.
