SL vs WI Team Previews

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has been clinical in its performance in this tournament and is the only team that is yet to be beaten after playing 6 matches.

They are at the top of the Super Six table and have already qualified for the World Cup.

Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne make up for an excellent opening pair and will look to give the team a strong start here. Nissanka slammed his first century of the tournament in his previous outing and looks in fine form.

The batsmen in the middle order, including Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka, and Sadeera Samarawickrama have played well in patches but they need to convert their starts into a big inning. Sri Lanka does have plenty of depth in its batting, thanks to all-rounders Dhananjaya De Silva, Dasun Shanaka, and Wanindu Hasaranga.

Hasaranga is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 20 wickets and has been well supported by Maheesh Theekshana. Matheesha Pathirana was quite impressive in the last match, picking up 2 wickets for 18 runs, and will feature in the pace attack along with Dilshan Madushanka.

West Indies

West Indies will heave a sigh of relief as its disappointing campaign to qualify for the upcoming ODI World Cup is drawing to an end. The team has failed to qualify for the marquee event for the first time in its history, and will now have to concentrate on rebuilding the team.

Brandon King, who was having a mediocre tournament by his standards managed to regain some of his lost form in the last match, as he slammed a century and set the stage for a win against Oman. He will be joined by Johnson Charles at the top of the order. Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran, who are the top two scorers for West Indies, will once again play an important role.

They will be joined by Kyle Mayers, Roston Chase, and Keacy Carty. Romario Shepherd bowled an excellent spell of 3 for 44 in the last match and will be hoping to continue with his good form. His role will be all the more important here in the absence of West Indies’ two key seamers, Alzarri Joseph and Jason Holder.

The others in the pace attack include Kyle Mayers and Keemo Paul. Akeal Hosein will lead the spin attack here along with Kevin Sinclair and Roston Chase.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the Harare Sports Club is good to bat on as it offers a good amount of pace and bounce. The average first-inning score is 270, which is a par score. The quicker bowlers will get some movement early on, but the surface will even out as the game progresses.

The weather will remain clear with temperatures of around 20 degrees Celsius.

SL vs WI Betting Tips

While West Indies has always been seen as a formidable force, their performance here has been far from perfect. They have struggled to win even against weaker teams and we think they will find it hard to overcome against a strong opposition like Sri Lanka. However since they will play without the pressure of qualification, we can expect a well-fought match.

Bet on Sri Lanka to win.
