Sri Lanka

After failing to qualify for the main event via the Super League, Sri Lanka was one of the favorites to make it through via the Qualifiers and they haven’t disappointed the fans. Sri Lanka has been clinical in its performance and is undefeated throughout the group stage as well as during the Super Sixes, and sits proudly at the top of the points table.

They will now look to end their campaign on a high by defeating the Netherlands here.

Patthum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunatw have done an excellent job at the top of the order. They are among the top three run-scorers of this tournament and will be looking to keep up the good work. Nissanka is in particularly good form, slamming back-to-back centuries in the last two matches. The middle order consists of Charith Asalanka, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Kusal Mendis.

Such has been the form of the top order that the batsmen lower down haven’t had much to do. Nevertheless, they will look to step up if the need arises. Maheesh Theekshana, who had a slow start to the tournament as bowled brilliantly in the last few matches and will be the key bowler for Sri Lanka.

He will be supported by Dushan Hemantha and Sahan Arachchige in the spin department. Matheesha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka will lead the pace attack with Dasun Shanaka chipping in during the middle overs.

Netherlands

Drawn into the more difficult Group A, the Netherlands played well to defeat heavyweights like the West Indies to make it into the Super Sixes with an advantage. In the Super Sixes too, they were locked in a fierce battle with Scotland for the second place and held their nerve to defeat them in a virtual knockout and finished in second place on the table.

Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd will open the batting for the Netherlands here. They have played well in patches but the team will need them to give a solid start here. It is a similar story with middle-order batsmen Wesley Baressi and Teja Nidamanuru as both of them haven’t been consistent.

Bas De Leede scored a brilliant century in the last match and also picked up a fifer and was instrumental in seeing his team through. Skipper Scott Edwards has led his team from the front, scoring 4 half-centuries in his 6 outings, and will be the key player for the Netherlands here.

Coming to the bowling, Bas De Leede has been pretty consistent with his medium pacers and is the leading wicket-taker for the Netherlands. He has received good support from Logan van Beek, and together, the duo will look to strike early blows to the Sri Lankan batting.

The spinners however haven’t been that effective as both, Aryan Dutt and Saqib Zulfiqar have struggled to pick up wickets.
