As we keep going with the Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in 2023, it’s starting to look clear as to which teams will advance to the next stage of the Super Six. West Indies and Zimbabwe are looking good in Group A, while Sri Lanka and Oman are the strongest in Group B. The top three teams in each group will advance to the Super Six.
Sri Lanka has been on fire in this stage so far, winning both ODI matches very convincingly and with an enormous NRR of 4.220. Ireland, on the other hand, has lost both games by close margins, with a pretty bleak NRR of -0.177.

Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka’s first game against U.A.E was certainly interesting, as four players scored a half-century and the team combined for a huge 6/355. In the second game over Oman, however, just Dimuth Karunaratne and Nissanka were needed to bat, as they scored 37 and 61, respectively.
Unsurprisingly, Karunaratne (total 133) and Nissanka (total 94) have been the top batters, and they were certainly the two batsmen projected to lead the team, as Nissanka especially is averaging 52 runs per game in his last eight matches. Look for Karunaratne and Nissanka to control the remaining games at the crease, too.
Heading into the Qualifiers, there’s no doubt that leg-spinner Hasaranga was going to be the most important bowler on the lineup. This has stayed true in the recent matches, as he’s taken an absurd 11/37 in just two matches! His efforts of 5/13 and 6/24 are astounding, and we can’t wait to see how he handles the Irish batters.

Ireland
Not that Ireland has ever been a powerhouse cricket team, but they’ve still got to be disappointed with their performances so far. The two losses mean it’s almost impossible to get into the next stage.
The first game was a defeat to Oman, which had a good batting display from Dockrell with 91 runs, but the Irish bowlers were not challenging enough and many gave away too many runs with zero wickets.
The loss to Scotland did have a few good points, namely Campher’s 120 runs, Dockrell’s 69 runs, and Adair’s bowling figures of 3/57, but otherwise, it was a poor effort from Ireland. Scotland only just won by 1 wicket, so it was a close game.

SL vs IRE Toss Prediction
Bowling first seems to be the better option, as the pitch can help batters later on in the second innings. Out of 77 ODI games, 43 games have been won when the captain has chosen to bowl first.

Pitch and Conditions
Batters usually love this pitch thanks to the fairly low bounce and little movement, although spinners have been known to get solid turn if they are experienced enough. It will likely be a high-scoring match, as totals of 400 have been seen here before.
SL vs IRE Betting Tips
The Betway odds for Ireland will be incredibly high due to being the underdog and losing both games, so by all means, place a small bet if you’re feeling adventurous. However, we still think that Sri Lanka is the favourite and will certainly defeat an inferior team like Ireland.
Hasaranga is bowling like a genius and getting decent help from Kumara, and batsmen Karunaratne and Nissanka are a great pair to have in the side. We think Sri Lanka will cruise to victory without breaking a sweat, especially if bowling first.
These two teams haven’t played each other for a while, but Sri Lanka has beaten Ireland 3/5 times (two matches were abandoned) and the last time was in 2016 by 136 runs. Bet on Sri Lanka to win
Bonus Cricket Bets
Karunaratne has slightly better odds than Nissanka, which is why we think it's a better option. Karunaratne has totalled 133 runs so far, and was great even before the tournament started, as he scored 111 runs against the USA in an ODI match. He should make light work of the Irish bowlers and possibly make another century.
The odds aren't quite as good as we'd like, but we don't know who else is trustworthy. Hasaranga is certainly the most effective bowler on the team and can do the most damage, as he already has 11/37 in just two matches. If he can remove either Campher or Dockrell for very little, then he'll be in a good spot to take the most wickets.
Dockrell is looking amazing in the two matches so far, as he's scored 69 & 91* for a total of 160 runs. His odds are too good to ignore, as this is a fantastic chance to get a huge money return on this match. If he can handle the good Sri Lankan bowlers, then he can make another big total.
