Ruby Trichy Warriors

The Ruby Trichy Warriors team had to endure another loss in their last game as they went down to Salem Spartans. Batting first in the 7th game of the TNPL being played at Dindigul the Ba11sy Trichy team scored 139 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. The Salem Spartans team chased this target with ease in 15.2 overs with 5 wickets to spare. An unbeaten 52 scored by Kaushik Gandhi allowed the Salem outfit to chase the Trichy total down easily. Gandhi hit 52 from 32 balls with 3 sixes and 3 fours in it.

The decision by the Trichy captain V. Ganga Sridhar Raju to bat first in this game came as a surprise to everybody. It had drizzled earlier and the conditions were cloudy. There was a lot of moisture over the track. Everyone opined that the skipper missed a trick when Raju opted to bat first with the conditions offering help to the bowlers. There was seam movement available from the track and the speedsters received good bounce right throughout the game. The pitch offered little help to the batters especially early on in the match.

Even though batting was difficult on the track, the Trichy batters should have developed some partnerships that would have taken the score to a respectable one. This was the main problem during the Trichy inning as they managed a modest total of 139 runs in the end for the loss of 9 wickets. Mani Bharathi batted well though scoring 40 runs while Daryl Ferrario also scored 29 runs. During the Salem innings the peak of the bowlers was K Easwaran who picked up a couple of victims for 22 runs and Godson also bowled well to pick 3 for 34.

Lyca Kovai Kings

In the 9th match of TNPL 2023 Chepauk Super Gillies took on Lyca Kovai Kings at Dindigul on 19th June. Batting first, Chepauk Super Gillies could reach a modest score of 126 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. The Lyca Kovai Kings team made light work of this target reaching it easily in the 17th overs of the match for the loss of just a couple of wickets. The Kovai Kings bowler Vallliappan Yudheeswaran picked up 3 wickets for 29 runs during the game and was declared player of the match for this game.

The Chepauk Super Gillies' batting never really took off. They lost their top-order batting without anything much on the board. It was some resistance offered by the lower middle order that allowed the Super Gillies to set a decent target on the track. Harish Kumar, Uthiraswamy Sasidev, and Ramlingam Rohit were the batters responsible for this late-order revival. Valliappan Yudheeswaran bowled well for Lyca Kovai Kings picking up 3 victims from his 4 overs while giving away 29 runs. Other bowlers such as Manimaran Siddharth, M Shahrukh Khan, M Mohammed, and Jhatavedh Subramanyan picked up a single wicket apiece.

The Lycan Kovai Kings' batting order was never really tested by the Super Gillies bowlers. Suresh Kumar scored 47 runs from 34 balls with 8 fours and a six. But it was again Sai Sudarshan who did not allow a whiff to the Super Gillies bowlers hitting 64 runs from 43 balls with 9 fours and 1 six and he also remained unbeaten in the game. Suresh Kumar and Sai Sudarshan were involved in a 65-run stand for the second wicket that virtually sealed the game for Super Gillies. After Suresh Kumar got out, just formalities were remaining for achieving the target.
