This ODI series between the Netherlands and South Africa is a continuation of a 3-match series that was canceled midway through 2021 as the COVID cases rose in South Africa. The proteas outfit will have to win the series for earning a direct entry in the main draw of the upcoming World Cup in India. So, they have named a full-strength team for this series. They are going into this series after a 1-1 draw against the West Indies. Netherlands on the other hand, is going into the series with a 1-2 loss in a series against Zimbabwe. They will be keen to try and challenge the hosts in this series. The Netherlands outfit has not done too well over the last 3 years in the one-day format. They did win a few T20 games in the recent past but it will be a huge challenge to beat South Africa in their backyard. Hosts will be under terrific pressure due to these stakes involved in the series. The Netherlands side will be keen to cause an upset in the series.

RSA vs NL Team Previews

South Africa

The South African team will be led by Temba Bavuma in the series and it will be under a lot of pressure to win the series. South Africa is the only major country from the ICC panel not to have yet qualified for the World Cup. They will need to register a 2-0 win in the series and so will need a good showing from their players. Bavuma will look to get his team members to play their natural game. Their opposition the Netherlands is not in good form though. This will work in favor of the proteas in the end.

The South African opening batters Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks have done a good job for South Africa in recent matches. The South African team will be hoping for another good start to the innings from these two. South Africans have a formidable middle order. They will be keen to get top performances from players such as Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, and Temba Bavuma. The responsibility of finishing the South African innings in grandeur lies with batters such as David Miller and the all-rounder Wayne Parnell.

The new ball for South Africa will be handled by Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi. They will work hard to put pressure on the Netherlands batters. If they can get early breakthroughs for South Africa, it will give their team an edge in the match. In the middle overs of the Netherlands innings, Anrich Nortje has a significant role to play. He will work with other bowlers such as Markram and Wayne Parnell to try and contain the middle order. Markram is the only spinner likely to play in the game for South Africa and will need to perform the support role well.

South Africa Playing 11

Quinton de Kock, Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen, Sisanda Magala, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi.

Netherlands

The Netherlands team is being led by Scott Edwards in the series and they are up against a big challenge to upset the mighty South Africans in this series. They did win a match in Zimbabwe but they are not looking too good in the last couple of years. The Netherlands batters are not used to playing against quality bowling attacks such as this. Scott Edwards will look for a positive approach from his teammates to try and win the game. Vikramjit Singh and Max O'Dowd have not done well as openers and they are struggling to lay a good foundation for the Netherlands middle order.

The Netherlands team will look for a good show from batters such as Tom Cooper, Musa Ahmed, and Wesley Barresi in their middle order. Teja Nidamanuru can hit the ball hard and will be looking to add some quick runs toward the end with Shariz Ahmed and the skipper Scott Edwards. As far as the bowling attack is concerned Paul van Meekeren and Fred Klaassen will be keen to provide early breakthroughs to their team and challenge the South African top order right up front at the start of the innings.

The Netherlands bowlers that will bowl in the middle overs for them are Vikramjit Singh and Roelof van der Merwe. They will need to bowl to a plan and tight line and length in the middle overs to contain the South African charge. The South African team management will also look for a good show from bowlers such as Shariz Ahmed and Nidamanuru. Roelof van der Merwe is an experienced bowler but he missed most of the international season last year. Last year Tom Cooper got back to the side after a gap of six years.

RSA vs NL Toss Prediction

There is a likelihood of getting a rain interruption during the match scheduled for tomorrow. This means that the team that is chasing a target will have the opportunity to chase the target by using the run rate required to its advantage. The captain that wins the toss will be looking to extract pace and bounce from the surface to try and put breaks on the opponent's scoring rate to limit them to a small total. This will allow them to chase the small target easily, So, all-in-all we expect the team to win the toss to field first.

Pitch and Conditions

The Willowmoore Park ground in Benoni, South Africa is smallish. It is a great venue for batters that are looking to hit the ball over the top. The quicker bowlers will be getting some help from the track early on. However, all-in-all it is a terrific surface to bat on. The ball will come onto the bat nicely. Spinners on the other hand are unlikely to find any purchase from the track and might not enjoy bowling here with small boundaries.

It is expected that we will get rain and thunder during the game in Benoni. It has been a rainy and long season with the surface being tough to bat on. The team batting first on this venue will be looking to put up a score of 275 runs on the board. This will be a good score to defend in these conditions. As the game wears on the wicket will become lower and slower so playing strokes on it will be tough.

RSA vs NL Betting Tips

South Africans have named their full-strength side for this series. They mean business as this is a vital series for them to secure a place in the World Cup main draw. The Netherlands on the other hand is going into the series on the back of the poor form. Their batters especially in their top order have struggled in Zimbabwe. These batters will be up against a powerful fast bowling attack that might even have the overcast conditions working in their favor. The proteas are also playing at home and they have not lost a game against the Netherlands ever. All this makes South Africa an overwhelming favorite to win this match.
