Cameron Green is an underrated T20 hitter and his numbers suggest he could well become a serious performer. A strike rate of 147 suggests he can be as destructive as anyone. He just needs to improve his consistency. It could be that in time he opens. For now we expect him to bat at No 3. In Green's last 12 innings in that slot he has busted this mark nine times. He's priced as if batting at Nos 5 or 6. On a flat surface it looks like a good bet.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost their previous match to the Kolkata Knight Riders. It was one of the few 'home' losses we have seen in IPL 2024. They have a chance to make some ammends and give their fans something to cheer about as they host the Lucknow Super Giants.
LSG comes into this match with its first win ticked off and a view to move further up the table.
RCB and LSG have played each other four times with RCB winning three of those matches. Out of these four, the two teams have played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium just once where LSG chased down 212 to register its only win this rivalry.
RCB vs LSG IPL 2024 is going to be streamed live on Jio Cinema. It will also be available to watch on the Star Sports network of channels.
RCB's batting was once again led by Virat Kohli in the previous match as they reached 182, target that seemed quite competitive at that moment. However, they ended up losing with more than three overs to spare and that raises some important questions.
Virat Kohli scored 83 runs at a strike rate of 140.68 but perhaps that is not good enough in T20 cricket today. If you face nearly 50% of the deliveries, you should be scoring a bit quicker. The bigger fault, though, is in the batting unit around him.
Players like Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell got a start but could not convert it into anything substantial. Faf du Plessis has been out of form since the start of the IPL while Rajat Patidar has looked completely out of place. It is only because of the late-order hitting of Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat that RCB's batting has saved face.
There is no doubt that the RCB batters will be faced with a lot of spin against LSG in this match as well. That could prove to be slightly difficult to combat unless Green or Maxwell have a massive night.
The bowling attack for RCB is struggling big time. Mohammad Siraj, Alzarri Joseph, and Yash Dayal were taken to the cleaners in the previous match. They have struggled to make an impact this entire season and it might be time to give Cameron Green more of the ball.
Luckily, Mayank Dagar has been a good pick and Vijaykumar Vyashak bowled very well in the previous match as well.
We expect one or two changes in the lineup for RCB with the position of Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal the most precarious.
LSG registered a solid victory against PBKS in its previous outing with a lot of positive to take from that match. Quinton de Kock scored valuable runs, Nicholas Pooran continues to show that he is one of the premier T20 batters in the world, and Krunal Pandya got a score under his belt as well.
We actually think LSG has one of the strongest batting lineups of IPL 2024. KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Devdutt Padikkal have not even made a dent in the IPL so far. They are all players that like playing at the Chinnaswamy and will have some very solid memories.
With the weak RCB bowling attack in front of them, we could see LSG's batting really come into its own and score freely. Perhaps for the first time this season, the excitement in the crowds is not going to be about the betters but about an out and out fast bowler.
Mayank Yadav clocked over 155kmph in the previous match and took three wickets to end the contest. He is going to be a real threat in this match as well and his contest against the RCB batters is mouth watering. LSG also needs Mayank Yadav to be a force consistently because the bowling around him is a bit inconsistent.
Mohsin Khan, Manimaran Siddharth, and Naveen-ul-Haq are good bowlers but neither of them is going to run through sides. Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi are an excellent pair of spinners to have and we think they will be used to target the RCB batting in this match.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. Six out of the previous ten matches played at the Chinnaswamy have been won by the chasing team. The pitch also seems to get a bit better batting second.
There are some clouds expected in Bengaluru but no rain is forecast. The temperatures will be in their mid-twenties and so absolutely ideal for cricket. The pitch at the Chinnaswamy Stadium has been a bit slower and drier than in previous seasons.
It has still allowed the batters to score freely but the spinners can be hard to get away. Making the most of the powerplay is going to be crucial for both teams. 190 is the average score batting first at this venue over the previous 10 IPL matches but the average winning score is 197. 200 has to be target for both teams while batting first.
We are going to back LSG to win this match and hand RCB another home defeat. LSG's lineup seems very well suited to the conditions at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. They have big hitters across their lineup, plenty of depth, an express fast bowler, and two quality spinners. They could make life very tough for RCB.
