We haven’t had a chance to witness the Invincibles in the Hundred this year, as their first game against the Spirit was abandoned due to bad weather. Nevertheless, they are still the team to beat in 2023, as they are the reigning champions after their close victory in the Final against the Brave.
In what is perhaps a scary outlook for the league, the Invincibles remain largely unchanged from the team that went 5-1 in the season and went on to win the Final.
Talented batters like Bates (232 runs in 2022), Winfield-Hill (219 runs), and Kapp (126 runs) are all back and look in form after recent matches with their respective countries. Allrounder Capsey is a key piece to watch, as she not only took 8 wickets and made 118 runs in the season, but her 62-run partnership with Kapp in the Final was a big part of the victory.
Grey (8 wickets) and Smale (8 wickets) have returned, but also keep an eye on batter Dane van Niekerk, who only played 3, matches last year but is a skilled player.

Matthews shocked everyone by scoring 65 runs, as she only had 109 for the season last year. That was a big part of the win over the Brave, but she had great support from her teammates, including Beaumont (26), Harris (20), Bryce (21), and Elwiss (28). It’s so much easier to win when everyone simply pulls their weight!
The Fire bowlers did pretty well to limit the Brave to 161 runs in the second innings. Despite Mandhana and Wyatt combining for 137 runs, they prevented the other batters from helping out and the next three combined for only 19 runs. Ismail (0/28) and Davies (0/36) were fairly disappointing, but the Fire had excellent overs from Griffiths (2/26) to really put a stamp on the game.
