OVI vs TRR Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Aug 21, 2023

With the news that the Invincibles (1st place) have secured a place in the Men’s Hundred playoffs, there’s a bit less pressure on them to win this match. Still, we’re sure they wouldn’t like to lose, but the Rockets (2nd place) will be eager to earn a victory here and also get their chance to compete in the Final. This is the first time that these squads have faced each other this season.

Oval Invincibles vs. Trent Rockets will take place at Kennington Oval, London, on August 21st. Don't forget that these betting sites can give you great deals.

OVI vs TRR Team Previews

Oval Invincibles

The Invincibles have played extremely well this season to have a 5-1 record (with one tie), especially as their star batter, Jordan Cox, was ruled out of the tournament with a finger injury.

Other players have stepped up in Cox’s absence, especially Klaasen (189 runs and a 31.50 average), Jacks (182), and Roy (135). We thought the loss of Cox would greatly affect the team chemistry, but everyone has kept up the momentum and the Invincibles look amazing. Muyeye is the one question mark, as he’s a top-order batter with just one innings of 11 runs, so we’ll have to see how he handles the next games.

The Invincibles will have a bit of a shake-up, however, as Klaasen will not play in any further games due to his involvement with South African games. He will be replaced by Jimmy Neesham. The team may get one more game out of bowlers Johnson and Zampa, who will also depart to play for Australia and certainly won’t be in the Final.

The Invincibles’ bowling lineup isn’t as strong as it was, with Atkinson (9 wickets) also out, but Sowter (9/190) has great support from Tom Curran (6 wickets) and Sam Curran (5 wickets).

Oval Invincibles Playing 11

Adam Zampa, Spencer Johnson, Tawanda Muyeye, Gus Atkinson, James Neesham, Jason Roy, Nathan Sowter, Sam Curran, Sam Billings, Tom Curran, Will Jacks.

Trent Rockets

The Trent Rockets have had a bit somewhat up-and-down season with a 3-3 record (1 No Result), but it’s still good enough to have second place.

The Rockets have a fantastic batting lineup that seems free of any departures due to injury or national duty. Munro had a slow start but has gone wild lately to hit 185 runs (37.00 average), and so too has Root with 133 runs thanks to his huge 72* effort. Kohler-Cadmore (133), Hain (116), and Sams (109) are all capable batters, although we’re a bit surprised at Hales with only 84 runs.

Trent has something special with Sams as a bowler (10/177), but Wood has looked great as well with 6 wickets. Cook is doing fine with 4 wickets, but as a bowler for the England squad, we thought he’d be doing a bit more for the team, and that ER of 11.10 is far too high.

Trent Rockets Playing 11

Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Daniel Sams, Ish Sodhi, Joe Root, Luke Wood, Lewis Gregory, Matthew Carter, Samuel Cook, Sam Hain, Tom Kohler Cadmore.

OVI vs TRR Toss Prediction

The pitch can become slower later on in the match, which is why squads prefer to bat second. Bowling first is typically the desired move according to the records for the team that wins the toss.

Pitch and Conditions

Although the Kennington Oval surface is generally seen to be balanced, it is normally preferable to bowl first in short-over matches like the Hundred, since that is where the majority of the movement and swing will occur. The side batting second has won 39/68 times in T20 games. At 25°C, the weather is going to be bright but overcast.

OVI vs TRR Betting Tips

As the Invincibles team is set to change with so many players coming and going, as well as the fact that they’ve already secured a playoff spot, we like the Rockets in this match. The Rockets have far more interesting Satbet odds, and the team is full of star players like Sams, Root, and Munro.

It’s going to be tough for the Invincibles without Klaasen and Cox, and we think that the Rockets will play harder in this game to get a spot in the playoffs. The Rockets need Hales to play harder, but there are so many great batters already in the team.

Bet on the Trent Rockets to win.

Munro is now averaging 37.00 at the moment, and has totalled 185 runs, so it's a pretty safe bet that he'll score over 17.5 runs. Munro has become better and better as the Hundred progresses, and only recently hit 66*. He's one of the most aggressive batters in the league.

Although Root/Hales is a decent partnership, we still really like the opening pair for the Oval Invincibles, which is Roy/Jacks. Neither one is really making a case for best batter in the league, but they've been reliable and averaging around 20 runs per game. The odds are far better for the Invincibles, as well.

Method of First Dismissal: Run Out

    20/1

It might be that both teams are feeling on edge and eager to score quick runs, especially with the Finals looming around the corner. Runs might be hard to find in the first few overs, as the pitch tends to be better for bowlers, so batters may well risk some opportunities and get run out.
