OVI vs LOS Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Aug 15, 2023

The Invincibles are currently leading the Men’s Hundred with 7 points, while the Spirit have some catching up to do with 4 points and 6th place. However, the Spirit did unfortunately have two No Results due to the weather, so this could have been different.

The biggest news for the Invincibles is that star batter and leading scorer, Jordan Cox, will not play in any more games this season after fracturing a finger in the loss to the Phoenix.

Oval Invincibles vs. London Spirit will take place at Kennington Oval, London, on August 15th. See here for all our latest cricket betting tips to help your bets.

OVI vs LOS Team Previews

Oval Invincibles

The Invincibles have looked fantastic so far this season, with three wins, one tie, and one defeat. Still, the loss of Cox is a major blow, as he was not only the leading scorer for the team, but also the entire Hundred league. Cox had totalled 168 runs for an average of 56.00, but will soon have surgery on his finger that will rule him out of the remaining games.

The team does have several other quality batters to fill the void, including Klaasen (125 runs), Jacks (101), and Roy (84). Sam Curran (77) has been somewhat hampered by a shoulder injury, but has still been playing in the tournament.

On the bowling front, Sunil Narine (6/118) will depart to the Caribbean Premier League, but Adam Zampa will step in to help. Atkinson has by far been the team’s most dynamic bowler with solid figures of 9/96, but has mentioned shoulder pain to his team. Next follows Sowter with 8/137, but that 10.27 ER is far too high and he’ll have to do a better job of limiting opposition runs. Not having Narine is certainly going to affect the team’s bowling.

London Spirit

The Spirit had a bit of a rough start, with two losses and two No Results, but the squad finally picked up their first win in their recent match against the Rockets.

The squad hasn’t exactly displayed the best batters in the league, but it is somewhat harder than everyone else after having two games cancelled. Still, Lawrence (117 runs) appears to be the saviour of the team and is the one bright spot. Otherwise, there’s a big gap to the next-best batsmen, which are Wade (45) and Rossington (40). We’re still waiting to see better performances from Crawley (30) and Mitchell (26), who are some of the biggest names on the Spirit.

Apart from Worrall (6/71), the bowling could also use a pick-up. Ellis (3/99) will soon leave to play for Australia in a T20I series, but there’s Wood to help out with the bowling (although he had just 0/47 in his first game). Dawson’s 4/97 is a positive sign for the team.

OVI vs LOS Toss Prediction

The pitch tends to slow down in the second innings, which is why captains like to bowl first if winning the toss. For T20 games, the team batting second has won 39/68 times.

Pitch and Conditions

Batting at Kennington Oval is always a fun time, as the pitch is perfect for large totals in short-over games like we see in the Hundred. T20 games often see scores around 160-170, but batters love the pitch because it doesn’t offer considerable bounce and the outfield is quick.

OVI vs LOS Betting Tips

The Satbet odds are much better for the Spirit, although we don’t feel super confident based on their past results. It’s close to call, but as the Invincibles recently lost their best batter, Cox, and there are possible injuries to Sam Curran and Atkinson, we’re trending towards to the Spirit.

If the Spirit can get another great effort from Lawrence but also improved batting from Wade and Rossington, then the team can certainly pounce on this opportunity to play a weakened Invincibles squad. Worrall will need to continue his hot bowling, but Wood can’t go another game like 0/47 and expect to succeed.

It’s true that the Invincibles have won the last two games against the Spirit, but the squads change so much each year that it’s hard to buy into this statistic.

Bet on the London Spirit to win.

Dan Lawrence To Score Over 19.5 Runs: Yes

Lawrence has been very important for the Spirit, as he's averaging 58.50 right now and has totalled 117 runs. He nearly had a century after scoring 93 runs this season, so it seems easy that he'll get over 19.5 runs.

To Take 2+ Wickets: Daniel Worrell (Spirit)

    15/8

    Visit

Worrall has been the team's best bowler and already has 6 major wickets. He's had two games with 2 wickets, so it's a good bet to make that he'll do it again. Plus, those odds are too good to ignore.

Oval Invincibles Top Batter: Heinrich Klaasen

    3/1

The odds for Roy and Jacks are decent, but the batter which can earn you the most is Klaasen. He's the next-best scorer with 125 runs after Cox, who will be injured and not play in any more matches.
