Match Prediction and Cricket Betting Tips for New Zealand vs Uganda T20 World Cup 2024

NZ vs UGA Team Previews

New Zealand

New Zealand entered this contest as one of the strongest teams in their group and a serious contender to make it to the finals. However, consecutive losses at the start of the tournament mean that the Black Caps now have just a mathematical chance of making it to the Super 8.

The batting has been one of the biggest letdowns for the team. The opening pair of Finn Allen and Devon Conway has struggled to give the team a strong start in both games and that has had a cascading effect on the middle order.

Kane Williamson, who has plenty of experience playing in the World Cups, is averaging just 5, while Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell have failed to emulate their success from the ODI World Cup.

The pace attack consisting of Trent Boult, Tim Southee, and Lockie Ferguson bowled well in the last match to pick up 7 wickets between them. However, Mitchell Santner is yet to leave his mark in this tournament.

It has been a successful stint for Uganda as they scored their first-ever win in the T20 World Cup last week. Now, as they play their final match of the group stages, the team would like to punch above its weight and spoil the party for New Zealand.

Barring the 33-run inning from Riazat Ali Shah for a winning cause against PNG, the batting from Uganda hasn’t been that great. The team has failed to cross the 100-run mark in each of its 3 outings and that has cost them quite a bit in terms of NRR.

The bowlers on the other hand have fared slightly better, with Brian Masaba and Cosmas Kyewuta picking up 5 wickets each, while Alpesh Ramjani has 4 against his name.

Pitch and Conditions

The Brian Lara Stadium isn’t the easiest venue for the batsmen and is one of the low-scoring venues in the West Indies. The average first-inning score here is around 160. The surface is patchy with a mix of grassy and bare areas and offers inconsistent bounce. There is plenty of help for the seamers throughout the match, while the spinners will come into action during the second half.

The weather is likely to remain cloudy and humid with a temperature of around 28 degrees.

NZ vs UGA Betting Tips

The Black Caps haven’t been in the best of forms but this game provides them with the perfect opportunity to bounce back. Uganda has a far inferior team compared to New Zealand and they are likely to struggle.

The pitch at the Brian Lara Stadium isn’t the easiest to bat on and there are plenty of opportunities for the bowlers to pick up wickets. Also, New Zealand has lost at least 9 wickets in both its outings in this tournament, while Uganda has lost at least 7 in each of its 3 games. We can therefore expect plenty of wickets.

Trent Boult to be the top bowler of the match

Boult bowled an excellent spell in the last match, picking up 3 wickets. He has a brilliant record in T20 World Cups and has picked up 30 wickets at a strike rate of 12.30. With the bowling around him lacking bite, Boult has a good chance of being the top bowler of the match.
