NZ vs IRE Match Prediction - Nov 04, 2022

New Zealand is currently at the top of the Group 1 Standings with two wins from four matches and one no-result. This is also exactly the same for England and Australia but a superior net run rate means New Zealand is better placed than both of them.

If New Zealand wins against Ireland, it qualifies. Only a rained-out match or a loss to Ireland could ruin things for New Zealand but the forecast is excellent in Adelaide for match day. Ireland, of course, is no pushover. It defeated England and has been playing some good cricket. Another win for Ireland will also allow it to finish at the Top-4 and qualify for the next T20 World Cup directly.

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for New Zealand vs Ireland T20 World Cup 2022. The match will be played at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on the 4th of November 2022.

NZ vs IRE Team Previews

New Zealand

New Zealand was beaten quite comprehensively by England in its previous match and we think the eventual margin of 20 runs was a bit flattering to New Zealand. For a change, New Zealand's new ball bowlers did not get the kind of movement we expect and they suffered punishment in the latter half of the inning.
There was not much swing in Adelaide in the previous matches so we could see another testing time for New Zealand's pace bowlers. Of course, the fact that is you will always fancy Trent Boult, Tim Southee, and Lockie Ferguson over the Irish top order.

New Zealand's bowling is very strong and the batting is also performing well. The big concern over here would be Kane Williamson. He has scored 71 runs in the T20 World Cup 2022 edition so far at a strike rate of 93.46. That is just not acceptable for a player batting at number three and could cost New Zealand heavily in the matches to come.

Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway are easily the best performers for New Zealand so far. The danger of Finn Allen is also something that teams around the world would now be aware of.

New Zealand Playing 11

Finn Allen, Devon Conway, KS Williamson, Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, TG Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Ish Sodhi, Trent Boult.

Ireland

Ireland seems to have found a new gear to its T20 batting and that is great to see. Lorcan Tucker, someone who was running the drinks for Ireland last year, is now their highest-scorer in the tournament and is making their top order a lot more dangerous. We have yet to really see the best of Paul Stirling, Andre Balbirnie, or Harry Tector (who is having a terrible tournament).
There is clearly a lot of potential in this lineup. Stirling has been demolishing bowling attacks in T20 leagues around the world and will favor the short boundaries of the Adelaide Oval.

Overall, though, there is no doubt that the Irish batting is far weaker than New Zealand's. We expect them to come out with intent and take the game on. That could result in a lot of wickets being lost early (as against Australia) or something spectacular (as against England).

The likelihood of a disaster is far higher.

Ireland's bowling is not too bad but it could struggle on a flat Adelaide surface. Joshua Little is the only real threat in this lineup. The rest of the medium pacers could be taken to the cleaners. The spin options are also not too compelling.

Andy Balbirnie, PR Stirling, Lorcan Tucker, Harry Tector, George Dockrell, Curtis Campher, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair, Fionn Hand, Joshua Little, Barry McCarthy.

NZ vs IRE Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first. Winning the toss is not too much of an advantage, as we have seen in the tournament already.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions in Adelaide are expected to be perfect for cricket. There is no rain predicted and the pitch should be very good for batting. This is a venue where something around 180 is the minimum teams will aim for while batting first. 200 is not out of the question either.

NZ vs IRE Betting Tips

We are going to back New Zealand in this contest. This is not a New Zealand side that has no weaknesses but in comparison to Ireland, it is far stronger in every aspect of the game. You never want to rule out upsets but New Zealand would back itself to beat Ireland 9 times out of ten.

Bet on Ireland to win.
