They are at the top of the standings and have plenty of momentum.

Muhammad Waseem and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are New York's leading run-scorers this season. Waseem has 132 to Gurbaz's 119. Importantly, they're both striking at 160-plus runs per 100 deliveries. They have shared 14 sixes and two dozen fours. This is a formidable batting combination, indeed.

Chamika Karunaratne has been instrumental with the ball for the Strikers. The Sri Lankan recruit has taken nine wickets in six matches. As one of the best United Arab Emirates players in the tournament, Muhammad Jawadullah has given Karunaratne good support with seven wickets. West Indian spinner Sunil Narine, meanwhile, has contributed five wickets.

Attempting to beat the Samp Army will probably be the toughest challenge of New York's Abu Dhabi T10 campaign so far. But they will know they are unbeaten against Thursday's opposition and take confidence and motivation from that. We should be in for a cracking tussle here.

The Army, too, have significant momentum going into this top-of-the-table fixture.

With 125 and 112 runs, respectively, Andries Gous and Faf du Plessis are the top run-scorers for the Army in this season's Abu Dhabi T10. Gous and du Plessis are striking at 170-plus each. That's impressive from the South African duo abroad.

Qais Ahmad and Salman Irshad have 10 wickets each for the Samp Army this season. Ahmad is one of the best spinners in the tournament and Irshad is building on his fine form during the Caribbean Premier League earlier this year. Batters are evidently struggling against his awkward bowling action and raw pace.

Jason Holder has put in nine wickets, too, but has hardly been required with the bat. He is among the best all-rounders in world cricket and previously captained the West Indies. There is no obvious need to push Holder up the batting order, but the Army might do it this time to experiment with combinations for later in the tournament.
