Northern Superchargers Women

The Northern Superchargers team got off to a wonderful start to this season with a victory in their opening game played at Headingley. But their batting line-up experienced a big collapse in the very next match with the entire team getting bowled out for a score of 100 runs. However, it is not a big disaster as these are early days in the competition. During their recent victory, Northern Superchargers have discovered the services of an excellent finisher in the form of the wicket-keeper batsman Bess Heath who bats in the number 6 position.

Heath hit a quick 23 from 10 balls against Trent Rockets women thereby helping her side reach a moderate total of 134 runs while batting first. Phoebe Litchfield scored 38 runs from 27 balls which was another good contribution for the Supercharger's batting order. However, the Northern Superchargers captain will be a bit concerned about the current batting form of Jemimah Rodrigues. She has established herself as a quick ruin-getter on the international scene but her strike rate in this competition appears to be on the lower side.

The Superchargers' batting all-rounder Holly Armitage is also struggling for runs at the number 4 position. In case the opposition maintains its bowling form, they are pretty likely to put the home side under pressure. The Northern Superchargers' strength lies in its bowling attack. It was this reliable bowling attack that allowed them to register 2 victories in 3 games. The significant wicket-taking bowlers for Northern Superchargers are Kate Cross, Lucy Hingham, and Georgia Wareham.  

Oval Invincibles Women

The Oval Invincibles women will be confident of registering a win here. They are going into this match after a successful defense of 128 runs against Manchester Originals in their last contest. Although this was not a huge score, their bowlers managed to handle this situation and maintained pressure on their opposition by picking up regular breakthroughs. There was just a single alternative available for winning this game and that was by picking up early wickets. The Oval Invincibles women did just that. Ryana Macdonald was the pick of the bowlers with a 4-fer from 20 balls giving away just 16 runs in the process.

Even though the Oval Invincibles team lost its opening match badly, their bowlers did a splendid effort while trying to defend against a paltry total of 80 runs. They picked up 7 wickets while trying to defend this small total. Marizanne Kapp picked up 4 wickets for 18 runs and led the bowling charts in this contest. The Oval bowling attack looked pretty impressive during the competition. Some of the key bowlers in this team are Paige Scholfield and Eva Grey. However, it’s the Invincibles batting that needs to complement this effort with the ball.

Invincibles have Suzie Bates playing near the top of their batting order. She will be the strength of this line-up. She has not been in the best of the touches and the lack of a single notable partnership between her and Lauren Winfield-Hill will be one of the major concerns for the Oval Invincibles captain. Captain Dane van Niekerk and Alice Capsey hold the key for a big score in their middle order. There are some useful all-rounders in the lower middle order such as Mady Villiers and Marizanne Kapp. So, there is sufficient firepower here.
