You’d be forgiven for thinking that batters Saif Zaib and Chris Lynn would be the best performers for Northamptonshire, as both were great in 2022, but you’d be wrong. Vasconcelos has been huge for the side, as he’s been reliable at the crease and made 154 runs already. Willey is the next best with 101, but Zaib and Lynn are way down the list, which may suggest why the team isn’t winning as much.
In terms of bowling, Taylor is continuing his solid end to 2022 and keeps on picking up wickets, with five so far this season. Aussie Andrew Tye also has five, but there’s no excuse for the terrible loss to Durham, whereby not a single bowler earned a wicket, letting the opposition cruise to 0/141.

Let’s just say that when your top batter has a total score of 77 runs (highest of 42), then you know your team is in trouble. Patel is doing what he can for the team, but he’s barely getting any help, especially not from Lilley or Ackermann, who continues to struggle at the crease. Lilley should be averaging nearly 30 runs per game, but he’s yet to get past 17 runs so far.
The bowling isn’t much better than the batting, as Parkinson is the only one to have a bit of consistency with a total of 5/73. Ahmed is giving the team barely anything, with just three wickets and a habit of giving up far too many runs (105).
