Northern Knights

The Northern Knights team played their last game in the competition against Central Districts in Palmerston North on 27th December. Batting first, Central Districts scored 206 runs from their twenty-over quota, losing five wickets. The Northern Districts team could not reach the target and were bundled out for 150 runs from 19.2 overs. The ferocious attack launched by Doug Bracewell in the Central Districts' middle order was too much to handle for the ND bowling unit, and the target proved too much.

Scott Kuggeleijn was the outstanding bowler for Northern Districts. He picked up two wickets from his quota of four overs while giving away just 20 runs. He was the only bowler who escaped punishment from Doug Bracewell's bat. Three other bowlers from Northern Districts succeeded in picking up a wicket apiece. They were Tim Pringle, Matthew Fisher, and Frederick Walker. Walker also bowled reasonably economically, and Kuggeleijn was one of the bowlers who did an excellent job of containment on the opposition. Kuggeleijn was also the top run-getter for Northern Knights, along with Neil Wagner. 

Wellington Firebirds

The Wellington Firebirds team played their last game against the Otago Volts. Their bowlers practically destroyed the Otago Volts team in a thumping victory by nine wickets with 93 balls to spare. Batting first, they bowled out the Otago outfit for a paltry total of 47 runs from 12.3 overs. Their opening ball bowlers, Nathan Smith and Logan van Beek, were right on the money from the word Go. Smith picked up four victims from his four overs, giving away just five runs, while van Beek picked up three from his 3.4 overs.

Other Wellington bowlers such as Ian McPeake and Peter Younghusband were also among wickets, picking up one and two wickets, respectively. The chase for the Wellington Firebirds team was a small one and hardly provided any challenge for their top-order batters. Tim Robinson remained not out with thirty runs from 16 balls, and Nick Greenwood was the only wicket to go down in this chase. The Wellington skipper Nick Kelly remained not out on 11 runs. These are the go-to batters for Wellington in the game as well.
