Northern Knights

The Northern Knights team played their last game in the competition against Wellington Firebirds earlier yesterday. Batting first, Wellington scored just 102 runs and were bowled out in 18.3 overs. Against the run of play, the Northern Districts team managed an easy win by a margin of seven wickets. They chased the set target in 15.3 overs, losing just three wickets. The Northern Districts bowler Scott Kuggeleijn was the Player of the Match due to his superb bowling effort when he picked up two for 14.

Scott Kuggeleijn led the ND bowling charge. He picked up two wickets for fourteen runs from his quota of four overs. A couple of other bowlers also did an excellent all-round job by picking up two wickets and bowling economically. These two bowlers were Zak Gibson and Matthew Fisher. All the six bowlers used by Northern Knights bowlers were among wickets. Tim Pringle, Kristian Clarke, and Fredrick Walker picked up a wicket. To back an excellent bowling performance, the Northern Knights also provided an all-round batting display, with all top-order batters contributing to the total. The skipper Jeet Raval top scored with 32 runs from 28 balls.  

Canterbury Kings

The Canterbury Kings played their last game in the competition against Wellington Firebirds. The Firebirds team batted first to score 184 runs from their stipulated 20 overs for the loss of five wickets. The Canterbury Kings made a valiant effort to reach this target and scored 163 runs for the loss of seven wickets from their twenty overs. During the Wellington innings, the pick of the bowlers for Canterbury was Angus McKenzie. He picked up three wickets for fifteen runs from his three overs.

Other bowlers among the wickets include Zakary Foulkes and William O'Rourke. They picked up one wicket apiece. McKenzie and Foulkes bowled economically as well. Other bowlers apart from these three went for a lot of runs. Although the Canterbury chase did not start well, Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls had an excellent second-wicket partnership. They scored 44 and 41 runs, respectively. But after these two were dismissed, the Canterbury innings could not accelerate towards the end.
