The Nepal Tri-Nation T20I Series is underway, and so far the hosts appear to be the team to beat. Although only two games have been played so far, Nepal has won both quite convincingly against Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates.
Nepal and Hong Kong have the advantage of more preparation time after playing in the Asian Games (both were knocked out in the Quarterfinals. Still, UAE was superb in the Gulf Cricket T20I Championship in September, where the team narrowly lost to Oman in the Final.

Nepal
There’s no doubt that Paudel is the most dangerous batsman in the Nepal lineup, as he’s been fantastic in his last 10 matches with 348 runs (43.5 average). He’s usually at his best in the T20 format, and has already knocked up 76 runs in two games.
Malla was predicted by many to be one of Nepal’s best batters, although he’s only made 12 runs so far, but a lot of the hype was due to his 137* against Mongolia in September. Keep an eye on Sheikh, who is sneakily good with 65 runs in the tournament and may surprise a lot of bowlers.
It’s hard to say who will impress the most with the ball after just two matches, but the player likely to shine is Karan KC, who has 7 wickets so far and is going to be trouble for any batter.

Hong Kong
It won’t be easy for Hong Kong, especially playing on Nepal grounds, but they’ve only played one game in this tournament. The batting depth is fairly thin, but the best hope they have is likely to be Hayat, who scored 99 runs in the Asian Games. Murtaza was solid in the first game against Nepal with 36 runs, so there’s a chance he could build on that.
When it comes to bowling, spinner Ehsan Khan was remarkable in the first game against Nepal, taking 3/10 and looking like one of the few bowlers that can make a difference. Murtaza did pick up a wicket, but was also expensive by giving up 36 runs.

Nepal won the toss and fielded in the first match, so it wouldn’t be surprising if HK will do the same if winning the toss to get the most out of the pitch.

Pitch and Conditions
Mulpani is a decent ground with much assistance for the bowlers, and there’s a lot of swing for anyone in the first innings with the new ball. We’ve seen spinners get success in the middle and later overs, too. Players will need to be careful of the humidity levels.

The Parimatch odds suggest heavily that Nepal is the favourite, but honestly, it’s barely worth betting on them because the return will be so low. The odds for Hong Kong are quite generous, and even though a Nepal victory is more likely, there’s a small chance to win for Hong Kong and a small bet is not a bad idea. A big effort from Murtaza and another great bowling haul from Ehsan Khan could possibly get Hong Kong a win.

Hayat didn't do much in the first game against Nepal (5 runs), but he averages nearly 30 for T20I matches and was great in the Asian Games with 99 runs. This is a crucial game for Hong Kong, so we hope Hayat brings back the form that we saw back in September.
Malla has shown that he can hit big scores, as we've seen 47* and 137* in recent games. We're still waiting for something strong in this tournament, but it's not impossible that he could score a 50 against Hong Kong, and those odds are really good.
