The Mumbai Indians have enjoyed better luck when it comes to winning the toss as they have won 2 of the 3 matches played. On the other hand, DC has lost the toss twice in 4 outings.
David Warner and Prithvi Shaw have got a couple of decent starts this season. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma have both struggled to get going. It therefore makes more sense to back DC for this bet.
While not in the best of forms, Tilak Varma has performed better compared to the other MI batsmen and is averaging 40.33. As the other batsmen have failed to play well, Varma has a good chance of being the top batsman for his team.
As the batting from both sides has been below par, we can expect quite a few wickets to fall in this match.
It is a battle of the bottom two teams as the Mumbai Indians host the Delhi Capitals this weekend. The match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday and will be a day match.
Both teams have faced each other in 23 matches to date. The Mumbai Indians have a slight edge here with 18 wins, while the Delhi Capitals have won 15.
This match will be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or can be watched live on the Star Sports Network.
The Mumbai Indians have endured a terrible start to their campaign and have lost each of the 3 matches they have featured in so far. As a result, the team is firmly placed at the bottom of the points table.
The batting from the Mumbai Indians has been underwhelming, to say the least. As many as 3 batsmen were dismissed for a golden duck in their fixture against the Rajasthan Royals, as they crashed to a 6-wicket defeat. That said, there is no dearth of talent and it is only a matter of time before the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Dewald Brevis get going.
The team is also home to a couple of quality finishers in the form of Tim David and Hardik Pandya, who can score briskly towards the death.
The bowlers have done a decent job so far but lack consistency. More will be expected from the new-ball pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee as they have managed to pick only 3 wickets each. Akash Madhwal, who was playing his first match of the season on Monday bowled an excellent spell, picking up 3 wickets for just 20 runs.
The Delhi Capitals haven’t fared much better when compared to their opponents. The team has managed to win only 1 of the 4 games played so far and is placed 9th on the points table.
Delhi will bank on its opening pair of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw to give them a good start in this match. Warner has shown flashes of his hard-hitting skills but is yet to play a match-winning inning. Similarly, Mitchell Marsh, Abhishek Porel, and Prithvi Shaw have all got good starts but have failed to convert it into a big score.
Rishabh Pant has been excellent, especially considering that this is his comeback to competitive cricket after almost 18 months. Pant has scored 2 half-centuries for the team and will be a key player in the middle order alongside Tristan Stubbs.
Coming to the bowling, Khaleel Ahmed is the leading wicket-taker for the team with 6 wickets and has received decent support from Ishant Sharma and Anrich Nortje. The spinners However will need to be disciplined with their line and length as Axar Patel hasn’t been in the best of forms. The loss of Kuldeep Yadav from the playing eleven is quite significant.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The Wankhede Stadium has traditionally been a high-scoring venue and we can expect a similar outcome for this match. The pitch is expected to be hard and will offer plenty of bounce. There are some patches of green grass that the quicker bowlers might be able to exploit. The spinners will need to be spot-on with their line and length. The team batting first will aim for over 180 runs.
The weather is expected to be warm and humid with temperatures of around 33 degrees.
Both the teams have been playing well below their potential and will be desperate for a victory. While there is no clear favorite to win this match, we feel that Delhi has a better chance of winning thanks to a better bowling attack.
Bet on the Delhi Capitals to win.
