Manipal Tigers

The Tigers managed to win just 2 of the 6 matches played last season and finished at the bottom of the points table.<br /> The team has brought in some fresh faces to bolster its batting department. Mohammad Kaif top-scored for the Tigers last season and will once again play an important role in the middle order.

Robin Uthappa and Hamilton Masakadza are likely to open the batting, with the likes of S Badrinath, Kyle Coetzer, Chadwick Walton, and David Whyte following lower down. Corey Anderson, Colin de Grandhomme, and Thisara Perera are three quality all-rounders on the squad.

Harbhajan Singh will lead the team and will head the spin department alongside Praveen Gupta and Imran Khan. The seam department, consisting of Parwinder Awana, Praveen Kumar, and Mitchell McClenaghan, is likely to emerge as one of the biggest strengths for the team. 

Gujarat Giants

The Gujarat Giants finished 3rd on the points table in the previous edition but were defeated by the Bhilwara Kings in the Eliminator. They will now look to put up a stronger performance and finish in the top two.

Kevin O'Brien was the leading run-scorer for the team during the last season and retains his spot. However, the team has let go of Tillakaratne Dilshan and Yashpal Singh. Chris Gayle is likely to open the batting alongside Richard Levi, and the duo will look to score quick runs during the Powerplay.

Skipper Parthiv Patel will play an important role in the middle order. The bowling unit bears a completely new look as most of the players from the last season miss out. S Sreesanth and Liam Plunkett are likely to start the proceedings with the new ball.

Ben Laughlin and Abhimanyu Mithun are the two other quality pacers on the squad. The spin department consists of Suleiman Benn, Sarabjit Ladda, and Ahmed Raza.
