LSW vs SBW Team Previews

London Spirit Women

We’re still waiting to see the Spirit play a game this season, as both of their games have been abandoned.

The London Spirit will have a tough time to replace Beth Mooney (205 runs), as has decided not to return to the Hundred. Nonetheless, Australia's Grace Harris and India's Richa Ghosh are capable substitutes. Amelia Kerr, an allrounder, is also still in the team after scoring 119 runs and taking 9 wickets in 2022.

Another benefit is that batter Heather Knight is back with the Spirit even though she missed the entire 2022 season. She's been batting brilliantly recently, getting 67 and 75* in recent One Day Internationals against Australia. Gibson (5/98) is yet another outstanding player to come back to the team, and the Spirit will rely heavily on her bowling prowess during the entire campaign.

Grace Scrivens, Lauren Filer, Niamh Holland, Richa Ghosh, Amelia Kerr, Charlie Dean, Danielle Gibson, Grace Harris, Heather Knight, Sarah Glenn, Tara Norris.

Southern Brave Women

The Brave have looked solid this season, and there’s no doubt that most of the success is due to the batting of Mandhana (144 runs) and Wyatt (114). This opening pair is the best in the league right now and it’s still somehow a surprise that the team didn’t win the match against the Fire where Mandhana scored 70 and Wyatt had 67. Keep an eye on Bouchier, who is helping out with 71 runs.

The bowlers really let the team down in the loss versus the Fire, but they recovered well against the Superchargers with a valiant win. Adams is certainly shining the brightest so far with 6/84, but she’s getting good help from Tryon with 3/72. Bell is finally back in the side with a wicket, as she was very important last season with 11 wickets.

LSW vs SBW Toss Prediction

The records are very even for short-over matches, with the team batting first winning 23 out of 40 times. Based on the pitch's history, any captain who wins the toss will almost certainly bat first.

Pitch and Conditions

The Lord's pitch is frequently an excellent blend of assisting batsmen right away and providing movement for bowlers in the second innings. While fast bowlers need to put in more effort in the early overs, experienced spinners will get plenty of turn.

LSW vs SBW Betting Tips

The Parimatch odds suggest that the Brave are the favourite to get the victory. It’s a shame that we haven’t seen the Spirit play yet to see how the squad looks, but we have to agree that the Brave appear the better choice. The odds are only slightly worse to pick the Brave, and it’s a surer bet.

As the Spirit are without Mooney and we’re not sure what to make of their new lineup, we’ll go with the Brave, as it’s hard to ignore the pure talent of Mandhana, Wyatt, and Adams. Plus, the Brave have beaten the Spirit in 2022 and 2021.

Bet on the Southern Brave to win.

The odds aren't quite as high as you'd like, but it's a certain bet to make, given the way that Mandhana and Wyatt have been opening the games. They've scored 258 runs combined, and they're going to get better as the season progresses.

London Spirit Top Batter: Richa Ghosh

Ghosh is very young but one of the best up-and-coming batters at the moment. She's averaging 26.80 for India in T20I games, and even though this is her first time in the Hundred, she's used to short-form cricket and will settle in quickly.

Southern Brave Top Batter: Smriti Mandhana

Those are still decent odds for the top run-scorer in the league. She already has144 runs and has gone as high as 70, so it feels like only a matter of time before she'll get close to a century. Wyatt also has good odds, but we trust Mandhana at the moment.
