Los Angeles Knight Riders

The Knight Riders were comprehensively beaten by the Texas Super Kings in the opening fixture and will be looking to bounce back here. The big loss has also left a huge dent on their NRR and that will be something they will need to improve too.

The Knight Riders will be hoping that their top order gives them a good start here. They have some of the biggest strikers in T20 cricket, including Martin Guptill and Rilee Rossouw, who can give them a boost during the Powerplay. USA international Jaskaran Malhotra will feature in the middle order along with other local players, Nitish Kumar and Unmukt Chand.

The trio will play a critical role here as they haven’t had much exposure against quality bowling. Andre Russell and Sunil Narine can score some quick runs in the death overs. Narine’s form with the ball is a bit of a concern and he hasn’t been in the best of forms of late.

This will put added responsibility on Adam Zampa. Ali Khan and Lockie Ferguson make up for a good new-ball attack, while all-rounders Andre Russell and Corne Dry will chip in during the middle overs. 

MI New York

Just like the Knight Riders, MI New York too had a disappointing start to its campaign as it lost to the San Francisco Unicorns in their opening fixture. However, the team has the quality of players that will help them to bounce back here.

The MI New York squad is filled to the brim with experienced T20 campaigners. The middle order is especially strong due to the presence of Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, and Tin David. The latter smashed an unbeaten 53 of just 28 deliveries during the last match and was in good touch.

The top-order however is a bit weak, as the team will rely on relatively inexperienced batsmen including Monank Patel and Steven Taylor to give them a good start. Coming to the bowling, the team’s star spinner, Rashid Khan, is yet to join the squad as he is on international duties.

In his absence, the spin attack made up of Sarabjit Ladda, and Steven Taylor does look a bit weak. The pace attack on the other hand is pretty good thanks to experienced campaigners like Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada.
