The Kent outfit played their last match against Essex in a day/night affair at the Chelmsford venue on 22nd June. Batting first, Essex put up a good score on the board. They scored 184 runs all out from their quota of 20 overs. The Kent team scored 190 runs for the loss of 3 wickets from 18.2 overs to take a win in this game with as many as 10 balls to spare. Joe Denly was the top run-getter for Kent scoring 76 runs and, in the process, he has now joined an exclusive club of players that have scored more than 5000 runs in the T20 Blast.

Denly played a breathtaking inning of 76 runs from just 32 balls to take Kent to their 5th straight win. This inning was also supported by Daniel Bell-Drummond and these two were involved in a 110 runs stand that was responsible for a successful run chase. Essex received this thrashing second time in the week and it means their hopes of qualifying for the next stages of the competition have also taken a dent. During the Denly onslaught, Bell-<br /> Drummond was also scoring vital runs from the other end. He reached a fifty in 35 balls.

Kent also got a 12-ball 20 out of Jordan Cox that took them across the line. Dan Lawrence was earlier responsible for a good score from Essex scoring 52 runs from 36 balls with 8 fours and a six. Several other batters from Essex contributed to the total. There were as many as four bowlers from the Kent team who picked up 2 wickets each. These bowlers included Wes Agar, George Linde, Michael Hogan, and Grant Stewart. Jack Leaning also picked up one wicket from his single over.

Middlesex

It was an incredible show of batting strength by Middlesex at The Oval yesterday as they chased down a massive total of 253 runs in front of 20,000 spectators. In this day-night game, Surrey hammered 252 runs from their quota of 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. But even such a huge score was not going to bring them victory. the Middlesex top-order batting was in prime form as they succeeded in reaching 254 runs for the loss of 3 wickets from 19.2 overs. It was a comfortable 7-wicket win for Middlesex in the end with 4 balls to spare.

Eskinazi started the onslaught on the Surrey bowlers right from the word go to score 73 runs from just 39 balls. The Middlesex openers Eskinazi and Joe Cracknell smashed 90 runs for the first wicket in 6.3 overs. Cracknell scored 36 runs from 16 balls before MDE Holden took charge of the proceeding and hit a merciless 68 from 35 balls. He was involved in a 105-run partnership with Ryan Higgins in just 7.4 overs. Higgins made 48 from 24 balls. He had also contributed well with the ball during the Surrey onslaught.

This was the first win for Middlesex after 15 losses in a row stretching back to the last season. This incredible chase though was the biggest successful one in the T20 Blast history. Earlier Jacks hit 96 runs from 45 balls and was involved in an incredible opening wicket stand of 177 runs from 12.4 overs with Laurie Evans who was equally dominant hitting 85 runs from 37 balls. But this was not going to be enough as Middlesex played with gay abandon to reach an unlikely win in this game.
