The Kandy franchise has seen quite a few upheavals in its history as they have seen a change in ownership before each season. The current edition is no exception and the franchise, which was called the Kandy Falcons last year, has been renamed as B-Love Kandy.
Kandy played excellent cricket in the last season, winning 9 of the 10 group-stage matches and finishing at the top of the points table. However, they were unable to carry on with the same momentum during the playoffs and lost both the Qualifiers, and failed to make it to the finals.
Coming to the ongoing season, Kandy has lost a couple of its key batsmen including Andre Fletcher and Pathum Nissanka. However, they still have plenty of firepower left. Ashen Bandara, Fakhar Zaman, Suresh Raina, and Mohammad Haris are all capable of playing the big shots.
The all-rounders including Angelo Mathews, Kamindu Mendis, and Chaturanga De Silva add depth to the batting. Wanindu Hasaranga will lead the spin attack and will have Mujeeb Ur Rahman to support him, while Mohammad Hasnain, Nuwan Pradeep, and Dushmantha Chameera will feature in the seam department.

The Strikers have plenty of depth in their batting and that will be an advantage for them. Skipper Niroshan Dickwella was in excellent touch in the last match, scoring a quick-fire half-century, and will be looking to give the team a good start along with Babar Azam.
Nuwanidu Fernando and Pathum Nissanka are reliable performers in the middle order, while the all-rounders Chamika Karunaratne, Mohammad Nawaz, and Ramesh Mendis can provide a late flourish with the bat. Matheesha Pathirana and Naseem Shah make up for an excellent pair with the new ball and will look to put the Kandy batsmen under pressure early on in the innings.
