INDW vs ENGW Team Previews

India Women

India entered this contest on the back of an excellent campaign in the Asian Games, where they ended as the Champions in September. However, the England W proved to be a much tougher opponent as the hosts were outplayed in all departments.

After India opted to bowl first, Renuka Singh struck twice in the very first over, removing Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsey in consecutive deliveries. However, they failed to capitalize on the good start as England went on to post a massive total. Renuka Singh ended with excellent figures of 3 for 27.

However, more will be expected from the veterans Vastrakar, Saika Ishaque, and Deepti Sharma. Shreyanka Patil made an impressive debut and will once again play an important role in the spin department. Coming to the batting, Smriti Mandhana has been going through a lean patch for quite some time now and will look to score some runs at the top of the order.

Harmanpreet Kaur was in good all-round form in the latest WBBL and will be a vital cog in the middle order alongside Jemimah Rodrigues. Richa Ghosh and Kanika Ahuja both got a decent start but failed to capitalize on it.

While India W are a quality team, they will need to iron out a few shortcomings if they want to level the series.

Richa Ghosh, Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Renuka Singh, Shreyanka Patil, Saiqa Ishaque, Titas Sadhu.

England Women

England W were clinical in their performance on Wednesday and will look to put up a similar performance over the weekend.

After losing two wickets in the very first over of the match, the visitors appeared to be heading for a disaster. However. Danielle Wyatt and Nat Sciver-Brunt put up a brilliant show to stabilize the innings. The duo stitched together a 138-run partnership in just 86 deliveries to help England set a mammoth target of 198 runs.

Apart from the two, there is plenty of firepower in the batting order, including players like Sophia Dunkley, Alice Capsey, Heather Knight, and Amy Jones, all of whom can be pretty devastating on their day. New-ball bowlers Mahika Gaur and Lauren Bell went wicketless and will hope for a better outing on Saturday.

Sophie Ecclestone was brilliant during the middle overs and returned with 3 wickets for just 15 runs. Nat Sciver-Brunt lived up to her all-round credentials, picking up the wicket of Mandhana. Overall, the England team appears well-balanced.

INDW vs ENGW Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss will look to bat first.

Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.

Pitch and Conditions

The Wankhede Stadium has traditionally dished out batting wickets and we expect the same on Saturday. The surface is flat and there are some patches of grass. However, the ball comes nicely onto the bat and the batters can play their natural game. The team batting first will aim for the 200-run mark.

The surface does slow down a bit as the pitch dries out and there will be some grip and turn for the slower bowlers as the game progresses.

The weather is likely to be clear with temperatures of below 30 degrees Celsius.

INDW vs ENGW Betting Tips

While most betting sites are offering similar odds for both teams, we feel that England W has a better chance of winning this match. They outclassed India W in almost all departments and will be feeling confident as they head to this contest. That said, India will look to bounce back and we can expect a closely fought encounter.

Bet on England W to win.

Smriti Mandhana to score under 23.5 runs

Mandhana has been in poor form of late. She has crossed the 23-run mark in only one of her last 6 innings. We are therefore predicting another poor outing for her.

  1. 10CRIC

Sophie Ecclestone to pick up over 1.5 wickets

Ecclestone has a good record against India as she has picked up 16 wickets at an average of 18.31. She has had a good year so far, picking up at least 3 wickets in 4 of her last 6 outings, including the previous match against India. As the pitch at the Wankhede is favorable for the spinners, we are backing her to bowl a good spell.
