India entered this contest on the back of an excellent campaign in the Asian Games, where they ended as the Champions in September. However, the England W proved to be a much tougher opponent as the hosts were outplayed in all departments.
After India opted to bowl first, Renuka Singh struck twice in the very first over, removing Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsey in consecutive deliveries. However, they failed to capitalize on the good start as England went on to post a massive total. Renuka Singh ended with excellent figures of 3 for 27.
However, more will be expected from the veterans Vastrakar, Saika Ishaque, and Deepti Sharma. Shreyanka Patil made an impressive debut and will once again play an important role in the spin department. Coming to the batting, Smriti Mandhana has been going through a lean patch for quite some time now and will look to score some runs at the top of the order.
Harmanpreet Kaur was in good all-round form in the latest WBBL and will be a vital cog in the middle order alongside Jemimah Rodrigues. Richa Ghosh and Kanika Ahuja both got a decent start but failed to capitalize on it.
