IND vs SL Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jan 15, 2023
India registered yet another series victory at home and now holds a 2-0 lead going into the third and final ODI against Sri Lanka. There is nothing much to play for except for national pride and so we could see some changes from both teams.
India may want to give some chances to Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav (both of whom have now been selected in India's Test squad) while Sri Lanka may want to try out a couple of different combinations as well. The cricket betting sites have once again priced India as the heavy favorite and that is not something you can really argue with.
Match prediction and cricket betting tips for India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI 2023. The match will be played at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on the 15th of January 2023.
IND vs SL Team Previews
India
India was excellent with the ball once more in the second ODI and even though it suffered a few lapses with the bat, it had more than enough in the tank to come out the winner. We expect a couple of changes for the third ODI as India builds toward the World Cup.
Washington Sundar could play in place of Axar Patel, SKY and Ishan Kishan could replace two of the batters, and Arshdeep Singh could play in place of Mohammad Shami. There is so much cricket to be played that there is absolutely no reason not to rotate the players and manage their workloads.
Will some or all of these changes weaken India as a team? We don't think so. Ishan Kishan scored a double century in the previous match he played and SKY is just too good to not score runs in ODI cricket very quickly. India's batting is going to tower over Sri Lanka no matter which six batters they end up picking.
The bowling got a real boost from having Kuldeep Yadav in the lineup. He can be a bit expensive on occasion but he almost always picks up wickets. He is in great rhythm and we think he adds another excellent attacking option in the middle alongside the rapid Umran Malik.
Mohammad Siraj is also in terrific form and continues to cement his place in the ODI team as a first-choice pacer.
All the ingredients are present for India to continue its winning run even if it does make a few changes to its playing eleven.
India Playing 11
Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Lokesh Rahul, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj.
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka's batting promised much but regular wickets in the middle overs prevented the team from reaching any significant total. Nuwanidu Fernando made his debut since Pathum Nissanks was injured and looked very assured at the crease. He is someone to watch out for in the future.
Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendia also got starts before getting out against the run of play. That has been the story of the series for Sri Lanka. It is not as if they do not have batting talent in their lineup but so far, we have not seen their top order carry on and convert their starts into big scores.
Dasun Shanaka suffered a rare failure against India and even though the lower order put up a fight, Sri Lanka's batting looked a step below what is needed to compete against India on a consistent basis.
Sri Lanka's bowling effort was better. Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara picked up a few early wickets. Chamika Karunaratne was also competitive but they did not have the total to ramp up the pressure. If India would have been chasing 50 extra runs, the result could have been different because the spinners would have had to be attacked.
Sri Lanka is a team that is developing and it has the pieces to build something special. For the time being, it seems as if Sri Lanka is just a little bit lacking in all disciplines to get the better of India.
Sri Lanka Playing 11
Avishka Fernando, Nuwanidu Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka, Dasun Shanaka, Ashen Bandara, Wanidu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Kasun Rajitha, Lahiru Kumara, Jeffrey Vandersay.

Pitch and Conditions
The previous ODI played at the Greenfield International Stadium was back in 2018 when India won a low-scoring match against the West Indies with ease. One match is not enough to draw conclusions from and so we had a look at the T20 matches as well. Here again, the average scores are a bit low but rain played its part in some of them.
We expect a good batting surface for this match with perhaps a bit of help for the bowlers early on.
If India bats first, expect at least 300 on the board.
IND vs SL Betting Tips
India is a phenomenal ODI team with very few weaknesses, especially while playing at home. It needs to be pushed out of its comfort zone and that is not something Sri Lanka has been able to do. With most of its players in good form and a strong set of replacements ready to step in, we don't think India will ease up on the intensity.
It should be able to end up the winner once more.
Bet on India to win.
Bonus Cricket Bets
Both India and Sri Lanka tend to hit a lot of boundaries and not as many sixes. We have seen over 49.5 four scored in both the ODI matches so far and there is a good chance the same will be the case in this match as well.
While this Over/Under line does not seem very high, we have seen it be crossed just twice in the ODI series so far and not a single time by India. Looking at the size of the boundaries and the fact India may bring in SKY + Ishan Kishan into the lineup, we are going to back Over 16.5 runs to be scored in at least one over.
The most prolific six-hitter for India in ODI's, Rohit Sharma has been batting a lot more aggressively in the first ten overs over the last one year than at any other time in his career. We think he has a great chance of clearing the boundary at least once in this match as well.
