IND vs RSA Team Previews

India

The Indian juggernaut continues to roll on as they handed Sri Lanka a crushing defeat on Thursday. With 7 consecutive wins in as many matches, the hosts became the first team to book a spot in the semifinals.

The Indian seam attack has been rampant in the last few matches, making early inroads in the opposition batting line-ups. Mohammed Shami is having the tournament of his life as he picked up 14 wickets in just 3 matches. The bowling during the middle overs has been another plus point for India as Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav have been spot-on with their line and length.

However, the Indian bowling faces its first real test as it takes on arguably the most lethal batting attack of this World Cup. The lack of Hardik Pandya in the lineup means that India has no margin for error and has to get 10 overs from each bowler.

Talking about batting, the Indian batting has been one of the key pillars of the team’s success. Rohit Sharma is at his attacking best at the top of the order, while Virat Kohli has always reserved his best for the big stage. With Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer playing important knocks in the last match, India will be feeling confident to take on any challenge thrown its way.

Although not in their initial plans, having SKY in the playing elevn makes India a quite dynamic team as well.

South Africa

Barring the shocking loss against the Netherlands earlier in the tournament, South Africa has been clinical in their performance as they steamroll over one opposition after another. Just like India, South Africa will be facing their first real test of the tournament on Sunday.

Quinton de Kock is in sublime form with the bat, scoring 4 centuries in 7 innings, and is also the leading run-scorer of the tournament. While his opening partner and skipper Temba Bavuma has struggled to get going, de Kock has received excellent support from the likes of Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, and Heinrich Klaasen.

David Miller and Marco Jansen, who come in lower down the order, are clean strikers of the ball and will look to give South Africa a strong finish with the bat in the death overs.

Jansen has also been brilliant with the ball and is the leading wicket-taker for the team with 16 wickets. He, along with Gerald Coetzee, Kagiso Rabada, and Lungi Ngidi makes up for a potent seam attack.

Keshav Maharaj has done an excellent job in the spin department, picking up 11 wickets.

Is there any real weakness in the South African lineup? We think they lack depth in the batting and can struggle if they lose one or two early wickets. Also, chasing is not their fore.

IND vs RSA Toss Prediction

The teams batting first enjoy an advantage at the Eden Gardens, winning 19 of the 32 completed matches played here. We, therefore, feel that batting first will be a good option. South Africa has preferred putting runs on the board while India has preferred chasing them down. The toss may not matter much in the end.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at Kolkata is usually dry and lacks moisture. It is one of the more challenging pitches to bat on and we can expect a good contest between the ball and the bat. The ball does grip the pitch and the spinners can expect a fair bit of help. Anything over 270 can be tricky to chase. The weather will remain clear with temperatures between 27 to 32 degrees Celsius.

IND vs RSA Betting Tips

India and South Africa are two of the strongest teams in this tournament and we can expect an engaging contest between the two. While this is one of the most difficult matches to call, we will back India to win. The hosts have been flawless in their game play and playing on a pitch that isn’t the easiest to bat, India has a slight edge.

Bet on India to win.
