IND vs NZ Team Previews

India

India was the top-ranked ODI team as it entered this tournament and has continued with its brilliant form. They have won each of their 4 matches so far and sit just behind New Zealand on the points table, with the latter having a better NRR.

As expected, the batting has been the core strength of the Indian team. Right from the opening pair of Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma to the middle-order batsmen Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer, all have been in good form so far.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the top two run-getters of the tournament so far. However, as they face a quality opposition like New Zealand, there is no room for complacency. The batting lower down the order hasn’t been tested much and maybe a weakness if the top 5 batsmen perform to fail. What has been heartening to see is the fact that the bowlers have played an equally important role in helping the team achieve its success so far.

Jasprit Bumrah is in top form, picking up 10 wickets so far, and will once again play an important role with the new ball. Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav have been brilliant during the middle overs, drying up the runs and putting the opposition under pressure.

Mohammed Siraj is yet to find his best rhythm but it is just a matter of time before he gets going.

Dharamshala will give the Indian batters an opportunity to score freely, if they are able to withstand the early onslaught against the new ball, and for the bowlers to try and exploit the conditions as well. The loss of Hardik Pandya could force a couple of changes in the playing eleven.

New Zealand

Unlike India, New Zealand wasn’t in the best of forms when the tournament started as it had lost a bilateral series against Pakistan and England. However, they have peaked just at the right time and have been clinical in their performances.

Despite missing two of their key players, Kane Williamson and Tim Southee, the Black Caps have never appeared to be out of depth, be it the batting or the bowling department. Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra started with a bang but have mellowed down a bit in the last couple of outings.

However, this has provided room for the likes of Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, and Will Young to rise to the occasion and showcase their talent. Phillips is shaping up to be a dependable all-rounder and will play an important role going ahead.

Tom Latham, in addition to being a vital cog in the middle order, has proved to be an excellent captain and has used his resources to the fullest. Mitchell Santner has emerged as a key performer with the ball and is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 11 wickets.

The pace attack consisting of Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson, and Matt Henry is pretty strong too.

IND vs NZ Toss Prediction

While the chasing team has won 4 of the 7 ODIs played on this ground, each of the last two matches was won by teams batting first. We, therefore, think that the winner of the toss will likely opt to bat first.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at Dharamsala isn’t the easiest to bat on. The surface is hard and has a good amount of grass. It allows the ball to skid on and the seamers will be able to generate a good amount of pace and bounce. The batsmen will need to see off the new ball before they can start playing the big shots.

The average first-inning score in the last 5 matches played at Dharamsala is 195 and anything over 250 will be very difficult to chase.

The skies are expected to remain cloudy and we can expect some swing. There is no forecast for rain and the temperatures will remain below the 20-degree mark.

IND vs NZ Betting Tips

India and New Zealand are two of the strongest teams in this tournament and are the only ones who are yet to be defeated, making this a very difficult match to call. However, we feel that India has a slight edge in this contest. Most of the team’s players are in good form and the batting has especially been a strong point. That said, the Black Caps will surely give the hosts a tough time in the middle.
