IND vs ENG Team Previews

India

After suffering a shock loss against the visitors in the first Test match, India bounced back smartly in Vizag to level the series.

The win was powered by some incredible batting performances by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored his maiden international double-century, and Shubman Gill, who scored his first test century in almost a year. The duo retains their place in the squad while Shreyas Iyer, who is suffering from a niggle (reportedly), has been left out.

Virat Kohli too is set to miss this match. Ravindra Jadeja makes a comeback but will play only after being cleared by the medical team. This leaves a gaping hole in the middle order that is likely to be filled by debutant Devdutt Padikkal.

Rohit Sharma’s lean patch will be a cause of concern for the Indian selectors. Coming to the bowling, the team retains Mukesh Kumar and Mohammed Siraj in the pace attack.

They will be led by an indomitable Jasprit Bumrah, who continues to impress the fans with each passing match. Akash Deep, who was a part of the Asian Games winning squad, has earned his maiden Test call.

Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Ravichandran Ashwin are the 3 spinners available for selection.

If Jadeja is available for selection he walks into the team and then India will have to choose between the all-round balance of Axar Patel or the wrist-spin wicket-taking abilities of Kuldeep Yadav. Sarafarz Khan will also be hoping to get a chance in the middle order for this match.

We could also see KS Bharat make way for Dhruv Jurel. It is not often that you see so many changes in a lineup between Tests, especially for the home team.

India Playing 11

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.

England

Despite the loss at Vizag, England is unlikely to change its batting approach for this match. There are some positives that the team will look to build upon and earn a better return in this game.

Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope will be the key batsmen for them in this match. Crawley was particularly impressive in the last match as he scored 50+ runs in both innings. Ollie Pope is a solid performer in the middle order who missed out on a double century in Hyderabad.

The form of some of the senior batsmen including Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Johnny Bairstow hasn’t been the best but all of them have had a very clear aggressive approach. They have been troubled by Jasprit Bumrah in this series and will be hoping to find some answers in this match.

Jack Leach is set to miss the rest of the series due to the injury he picked up in Hyderabad and no replacement has been named. This leaves the spin attack in the hands of Tom Hartley, Rehan Ahmed, and Shoaib Bashir. The team is likely to include one more seamer to join the veteran James Anderson.

Ollie Robinson is the obvious choice here and could be a really big asset for England if he can get some reverse swing going like Anderson.

IND vs ENG Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first. There is absolutely no doubt about this and you can consider backing the batters of the team that bats first to score a lot of runs. As far as cricket betting tips go, this one is a no-brainer!

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at Rajkot is generally good to bat on early in the match. There isn’t much grass on the surface and the ball comes nicely onto the bat. The average first-inning score in the 2 Test matches played here is 593 runs. The surface dries out as the game progresses and the spinners can expect some turn in the last couple of days.

The weather is likely to be clear with plenty of sunshine and temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius.

IND vs ENG Betting Tips

Looking at the way the two matches have gone by, we can safely expect another engaging contest in this match. We are going to back England to win this match thanks to a stronger batting line-up that bats deep. On the other hand, India is missing some of its key players and the batting looks a bit weak.

Bet on England to win.

Rajkot has historically been a high-scoring venue. The previous India-England match saw an aggregate of 1457 runs scored here and we are expecting another high-scoring match. The pitch will have a huge role to play in this of course, but the tracks for the last few matches suggests it won't be a rank turner.
