This time, though, Bangladesh comes into this series with a 2-0 win against Pakistan and an Indian team that has been out of red-ball action for a while.

A few stats to highlight India's Test dominance and to understand why the odds being offered on its win are so low. India has not lost a Test Series since 2012 and has only lost four Tests in total during that time. Almost 80% of its wins at home during this period have been by an inning or by over 8 wickets. If there is something like complete dominance at home, this is it.

India
It is not often that India has a long break from cricket but that is exactly what its players have enjoyed over the last few weeks. Thankfully, most of India's national players have played the Duleep Trophy to help prepare for the Test season. Looking at the squad, most of the playing eleven picks itself.
Rohit Sharma is going to open the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Both players play aggressively and never let the bowlers settle. Jaiswal, in particular, scored 712 runs at an average of 89 and a strike-rate of 79.91 in his only series at home against a strong English team. He also smashed 26 sixes in that series.
He is someone we will bet on to score runs once more.
Shubman Gill will play at the number three position and could use a few runs to his name. Virat Kohli at four is going to attract a lot of attention as he enters the final phase of his career. There is no doubt about the class of Gill or Kohli but we advise having a look at their current form before putting any money on them.
India's middle order is likely to feature KL Rahul, Rishab Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja. This is a top-7 that is phenomenally strong. Both Rahul and Pant got runs in the Duleep trophy while Jadeja has been one of the most consistent batters for India over the last three years.
R Ashwin at 8 is a luxury to have but India could also pick Axar Patel at 9 to have a batting lineup that never seems to end. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, and Akash Deep are the three fast bowlers in the squad most likely to play in this series.
The surface will dictate whether India plays Axar Patel or Kuldeep Yadav or even both in this match.
Either way, this Indian team has the bowling to be able to pick up 20 wickets at home on any kind of surface that is prepared.

Bangladesh
Bangladesh surprised even its most ardent supporters when it thwarted Pakistan 2-0 in Pakistan. That was a great achievement made even greater when you take the political unrest in Bangladesh into account. A number of senior Bangladeshi players have made statement about the confidence in their camp at the moment and how they are looking to win against India as well.
We have no doubt that Bangladesh is going to put up a strong fight against India. It has some promising fast bowlers like Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmud with the experienced Taskin Ahmed to lead the attack. Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz will lead the spin-bowling duties with Taijul Islam in the squad as backup as well.
On paper, this looks like one of the best bowling lineups that Bangladesh has ever had.
The challenge for Bangladesh in the past has been getting enough runs on the board. Even against Pakistan, it was a brilliant inning from Mushfiqur Rahim int he first Test and from Litton Das in the second that helped them get over the line.
Players like Shadman Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Shakib Al Hasan have all got to step up if Bangladesh has to have a chance. Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the lower order is an excellent batter has played the savior for Bangladesh all too often down the order.
Bangladesh is no longer a team that you can underestimate or else they will hurt you. Beating India in INdia, though, is the pinnacle achievement of Test Cricket. We don't think they are there just yet.

The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. Chennai will spin more and more as the game progresses so batting first should be seen as a big advantage.

Pitch and Conditions
The weather forecast for this match is perfect. There is very little threat of rain and we should be able to enjoy an uninterrupted contest. The most important part is the pitch, though.
Chennai does not offer up a rank turner on most occasions. The pitch is good for batting for the first few days before it starts to turn. The most recent matches have seen scores of 329, 578, 337, 477, and 759 scored in the first innings for both teams!
The matches also tend to be pretty one-sided. India has won three out of the previous four matches it has played in Chennai. These margins include a 317 runs win, one by an inning and 75 runs, and one by 8 wickets. The match it lost was also by 227 runs.
Spinners take the most wickets but reverse swing comes into play and brings the pacers into the match as well.

The odds on offer to back India are low but we will still take them with both hands. India's record at home, the balance and depth of its Test team, as well as its dominance over Bangladesh in the past all point to another Indian victory. Bangladesh has some good players and is in good form but we think it will find India a completely different level of difficulty when compared to Pakistan.
