IND vs BAN Team Previews

India

India has been clinical in its performance in this tournament. They are yet to be defeated and are the first team to book a spot in Sunday’s Finals.

The opening pair of Shubhman Gill and Rohit Sharma will once again look to give the team a solid start. The duo is one of the most successful opening pairs in the ODIs during recent times and has put up 50+ partnerships in each of the last 3 ODIs.

Virat Kohli is peaking in form just at the right time. The idea of playing two Wicket-keepers, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan is working out well as it gives more bite to the batting order. Axar Patel, who was included in the last match, proved his worth with the bat by adding 26 important runs on a difficult pitch and will most likely retain his spot.

Kuldeep Yadav has been spot-on with his line and length and has picked up 9 wickets in the last 2 games. Despite returning to the international arena after a long break, it is heartening to see that Bumrah hasn’t lost his rhythm and will lead the pace attack alongside Mohammed Siraj and Hardik Pandya.

One thing to consider here is the very real possibility that India might rest three to four of its players to keep them fresh for the Final. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah may very well find themselves resting for this game.

India Playing 11

Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Prasidh Krishna.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh will be very disappointed with the way it played during the Super Four stage as it has lost both its matches and has already been eliminated. Nevertheless, we expect them to come out and put up a strong fight.

The injury to Najmul Hossain Shanto during the group stages has dealt a body blow to Bangladesh’s batting. Litton Das, who was brought in as his replacement, has failed to get going. Similarly, Mohammad Naim and Towhid Hridoy, who are two important batsmen at the top of the order, have lacked consistency.

We expect the team management’s experiment of sending Mehidy Hasan Miraz as an opener to continue, but the bulk of the scoring pressure will be on Shakib Al-Hasan. The seamers have done a good job so far. Taksimw Ahmed is the pick of the bowlers with 9 wickets, while Shoriful Islam is close behind with 7.

They will have Hasan Mahmud for support at the other end. The spinners however haven’t been in best of forms as Shakib and Mehidy Hasan have managed just 4 wickets between them.

Bangladesh's strength lies in low-scoring matches where the spinners have a big role to play. If the pitch is similar to what we saw in SL vs IND, then Bangladesh definitely has a chance.

Bangladesh Playing 11

Litton Das, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Anamul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Mehidy Hasan, Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur Rahman.

Pitch and Conditions

While there have been some high-scoring matches in the recent past, the pitch at the R. Premadasa Stadium is generally known to produce low-scoring thrillers, like the one we saw between India and Sri Lanka. The bounce is a bit low and there is plenty of turn on offer. The pitch will likely slow down as the match progresses and anything over 250 might be tricky to chase.

As has been the case throughout this week, there will be plenty of clouds in the sky and we can expect some showers.

IND vs BAN Betting Tips

While Bangladesh has emerged as a strong opponent in recent times, we think that they are no match for India’s batting prowess and the latter should win quite comfortably. India's squad is very deep and even if they change up three to four players, the quality will not drop.

Bet on India to win.
