IND vs AUS Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Nov 23, 2023

The unending treadmill of cricket is such that we have India and Australia facing off in a T20 series just three days after the World Cup Final, also played between the same two teams. India has named a completely different squad with Suryakumar Yadav the only name that featured in the World Cup Final while Australia has a lot many more of the same faces.

India vs Australia T20 Head to Head

India and Australia have faced each other 25 times in T20 cricket with India winning 15 and Australia winning 10 out of them. If we look at the most recent matches, both India and Australia have won four out of the previous eight matches that they have played against each other.

IND vs AUS Team Previews

India

The Indian team in the T20 format is undergoing a massive transition and we are unlikely to see many of the familiar faces return for the foreseeable future. Suryakumar Yadav has been named the captain in place of Hardik Pandya and he will have a very young side at his disposal.

The opening slot is a bit crowded with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ishan Kishan all fighting for the two spots. If all three have to play, SKY will have to shift to number four otherwise we see Jaiswal missing out.

Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, and Jitesh Sharma will add heft to the middle order with Axar Patel as the all-round batting option at number 7. This is a strong batting lineup and while it may not have much international experience, there is no doubting the quality or the ability to beat any other side in the world.

Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, and Mukesh Singh could be the fast bowlers that India starts with in the first match with the one remaining spot going to Ravi Bishnoi/Avesh Khan. That choice will depend on the surface.

The bowling options for India are not poor but there is a marked drop off in quality in comparison to the first-choice bowling attack that is currently unavailable.

Australia

Australia is the bookmaker's favorite coming into this series against India and that is because its T20 squad is far more experienced and has seen a lot more success than the Indian team. Matthew Wade is the captain for this upcoming series and he will be keen to make his mark in the absence of some big-name players.

Matthew Short and Travis Head may find themselves opening the batting for Australia with Josh Inglis, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Wade, and Steve Smith all likely to be in the playing eleven as well. The thing about this Australian lineup is that it is immensely flexible.

Players are not wed to their spots like we see in the Indian team and this is why it is not really fruitful to try and guess what the lineup will be. We can be sure that Australia will come out playing aggressively irrespective of the situation that they are in and will take the attack to the Indians.

Tanveer Sangha, Adam Zampa, Spencer Johnson, Nathan Ellis, and Kane Richardson are all in the squad. We could see some of the senior players rested for the T20 series and some of the bench players given a run. The depth of bowling resources is quite good and no matter who plays, Australia will be a serious threat.

Steven Smith, Matthew Short, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, Marcus Stoinis, Timothy David, Matthew Wade, Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Jason Behrendorff, Tanveer Sangha.

IND vs AUS Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is likely to want to field first. There is some dew expected later on in the match and that could favor the chasing team. Two out of the three international matches played at this venue have been won by the chasing team.

Pitch and Conditions

There is no chance of rain predicted for match day in Vishakapatnam. The weather will be a comfortable 25 degrees celsius with high humidity. The pitch is generally a bit spin-friendly without too much pace. In matches past, R Ashwin's figures of 4/8 remain the best ever recorded here. Also, 57 is the highest individual score seen at this venue.

IND vs AUS Betting Tips

We think betting on India offers excellent value right now. The squad chosen by India is very strong, especially in home conditions. Australia will also find it tough to really care about a bilateral T20 series just after a World Cup campaign and we could see them just fumble a bit.

Bet on India to win.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is the vice-captain of the team and so he is likely to get his preferred opening spot. That will allow him to make the best use of restrictions and get boundaries with ease. Gaikwad is in good form and we rate him highly. The odds on offer are very attractive.

We like betting markets like these even though the odds on offer are a bit low. Just one batter from either team scoring a 50 is enough to get you paid. Well worth the risk.
