IND vs AUS Team Previews

India

India have been dominant this tournament. They went through their nine-match round-robin campaign undefeated and beat New Zealand convincingly in the semi-final. Now, though, it's time for the title favourites and tournament hosts to win when it matters most.

India have three of the top seven run-scorers in the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Former captain Virat Kohli, current captain Rohit Sharma and batter Shreyas Iyer have been in prolific form. Kohli has collected 711 runs in 10 innings - for an average of 101.57 - this tournament. His tally includes three centuries.

India also have three of the top eight highest wicket-takers at this tournament. Fast bowler Mohammed Shami is at the very top with 23 wickets in six matches, including a seven-wicket haul in the semi-final against New Zealand. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and spinner Ravindra Jadeja have shared 34 other wickets.

When India played Australia during the round-robin stage in early October, they won despite ducks from openers Ishan Kishan and Sharma. They didn't have Shami in the XI - and have since lost all-rounder Hardik Pandya to injury. This is going to be an intriguing return battle.

India Playing 11

Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Lokesh Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami.

Australia

Australia shook off back-to-back defeats against India and South Africa with seven successive wins to end the round-robin stage of the tournament full of confidence. They took that motivation into the semi-final and beat the Proteas - and now have the biggest fixture of the lot against the tournament hosts.

Opener David Warner and Mitchell Marsh have been at the fore of Australia's run-scoring this tournament. Warner has 528 runs in 10 innings to Marsh's 426 in nine. The return from injury of opener Travis Head has afforded the Aussies more batting depth, too, as Marsh is now positioned at three in the order.

Australia's leading wicket-taker at this competition has been leg-spinner Adam Zampa. He was the top wicket-taker overall for an extended period before being overtaken by Shami recently. Zampa has 22 wickets in 10 matches. He proved costly and went without a wicket in the semi-final against South Africa, though.

As a wrist spinner, Zampa could have a big advisory role to play in the big-hitting Glenn Maxwell's performance. Maxwell has been prone to getting out to left-arm wrist spin. He fell to India's Kuldeep Yadav earlier in the tournament and, more recently, South Africa's Tabraiz Shamsi.

Australia Playing 11

Travis Head, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood.

Pitch and Conditions

The last four first-innings totals in ODI cricket here have been 282, 191, 286 and 244. This venue isn't as high scoring as several others seen during this tournament. A first-innings total of 270 could be competitive.

Teams have been bowled out in four of the eight innings here during this competition. Afghanistan deployed five spinners against South Africa here a week ago.

No rain is forecast in Ahmedabad on matchday. There is no wet weather predicted for the days before the match, too. Conditions will be dry and characteristic of the sub-continent.

IND vs AUS Betting Tips

India have won 10 consecutive matches this tournament. Australia have won eight in a row. These are appropriate finalists. Attempting to beat India, in India, will be another massive challenge for Australia.

India should win this final. They will have tremendous firepower with the bat and world-class spin against an Australian batting order that has struggled, on occasion, against specialist slow bowling.

India are priced as 1.44 favourites to beat 3.00 underdogs Australia in this match.
