HBHW vs SYTW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Oct 18, 2022
Sydney Thunders will be looking to secure their first win of the season, as they take on the Hobart Hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League on Tuesday.
Hobart Hurricanes are the favorites to win this match, but one can never write off two-time champions Sydney Thunder, and we expect them to come back strongly in this game.
HBHW vs SYTW Team Previews
Hobart Hurricanes Women
The biggest disappointment for Sydney Thunder has no doubt been their batting. In their first game of the season, played against these very opponents, Thunder was unable to chase a modest total of 125, while in their last game against the Perth Scorchers, Sydney Thunder was bowled out for a paltry 88, and lost by 9 wickets.
The performance of the top order has been particularly disappointing and has failed to provide a good start in both matches. Tahlia Wilson and Anika Learoyd have shown some resistance in the middle order, but that hasn’t been nearly enough to get some points on the table.
The bowlers, particularly Chloe Tryon and Samantha Bates, have bowled a tight line. But there’s nothing much that they can do if the team doesn’t have enough runs on the board.
Hobart Hurricanes Women Playing 11

Sydney Thunder Women
The Hurricanes had defeated Sydney Thunder in the previous encounter last week and will be only more confident as they see the opposition struggling to perform. However, the Hurricanes themselves were thrashed by reigning champions Perth Scorchers in their last outing.
Asked to bat first, the Hurricanes could only manage to score 109 and lost the match by 8 wickets.
Nonetheless, Hobart boasts of one of the strongest bowling line-ups in the competition. Heather Graham and Molly Strano have bowled well in both matches so far, and are likely to cause some trouble to the struggling Thunder’s batters. One area of concern remains the form of Captain Elyse Villani, who hasn’t performed well at the top of the order.

Pitch and Conditions
There is a rain forecast in Sydney on Tuesday. We are therefore likely to see a shortened match, which will further aid the team batting second. The average first-innings score on this ground is around 130, and anything above that will probably be quite difficult to chase.
HBHW vs SYTW Betting Tips
We are backing Hobart Hurricanes to win this one. While the Sydney Thunder is no doubt a quality side, their recent form shows that the team is neither capable of putting up a big score, nor defending one.
