The Middlesex played their last South Group match against Gloucestershire on 4th June in Bristol. They had to endure yet another defeat in the league stages of the competition. They just lost 3 wickets in the process. They recorded a win with 10 balls to spare. Gloucestershire won the toss and decided to field first on a track that offered a bit of help earlier.

Middlesex was immediately in trouble losing the wickets of both the openers with practically nothing on the board. Stephen Eskinazi and Joe Cracknell lost their wickets within the first 3 overs. Pieter Malan and Max Holden then put together a partnership that resulted in a partial recovery for Middlesex. The real impetus to the Middlesex innings was provided by the wicket-keeper batsman Jack Davies. Davies scored 46 runs from 33 balls with 3 fours and a six. He remained not out and was primarily responsible for a decent total from Middlesex.

David Payne and Oliver Price were the most successful bowlers for Gloucestershire picking up 2 wickets each. Unlike Middlesex, Gloucestershire was off to a good start with some useful partnerships at the top of the order. Miles Hammond scored 34 runs from 44 balls while Olivers Price hit 46 from 40 balls. Zafar Gohar smashed 37 runs from 22 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. The three wickets that fell during the Gloucestershire innings were picked up by Joshua De Caires, Luke Hollman, and Thilan Walallawita. Hollman was the pick of the bowlers giving away just 21 runs from his 4 overs.

Middlesex

In another South Group encounter, Hampshire was up against Sussex in Southampton. This day/night affair was played on 3rd June. the Hampshire outfit emerged victorious in this game as they defeated Susses easily by a thumping margin of 10 wickets. Sussex won the toss and decided to bat first. they succeeded in scoring 144 runs all out from 18.5 overs. The Hampshire opener was in prime form as they reached the required target easily without dropping a wicket. Hampshire crossed the line in 14.5 overs.

The opener Tom Clark was the top run-getter for Sussex in this game. He scored 36 runs from 25 balls with 6 fours. But wickets kept tumbling around him and the real bit of resistance came from the Sussex lower middle order. First, it was James Coles who scored a quick 19 from 12 balls and then it was George Garton who scored 18 from 13 balls. But it was Fynn Hudson-Prentice who put the Hampshire bowling to a task by smashing 31 runs from 16 balls with 2 sixes and 3 fours. After the early collapse, this was a decent target set by Sussex.

The pick of the bowlers for Hampshire was Liam Dawson who picked up 2 wickets for 18 runs. Another bowler that did well for Hampshire was Scott Currie who also picked up 2 wickets for 25 runs from 3.5 overs. Apart from these two, other bowlers that were among the wickets were Chris Wood, James Fuller, and Mason Crane. they picked up a wicket apiece to put brakes on Sussex's batting charge. The Hampshire openers Ben McDermott and James Vince were in good touch and made the chase appear ridiculously easy. They both got the fifties and took the Hampshire team across the line with plenty to spare.
