Gujarat Titans

The Gujarat Titans were absolutely crushed by the Chennai Super Kings in their previous match. That was a contest in which the Gujarat Titams struggled for control during the middle overs and also failed to find any momentum with the bat. 

If you recall, Gujarat's win against Mumbai was also against the run of play in a match where they seemed out of the contest. These are not good signs for the Titans. They are far too dependent on Shubman Gill at the top of the order and if he gets out early, the batting lineup does not hold much of a threat. 

Wriddhiman Saha, Sai Sudharsan, and Vijay Shankar are all good players but only Sudharsan seems likely to make match-winning contributions out of them. In such a situation, it may be worthwhile pushing David Miller up the order and getting some more quality in the top order. 

Azmatullah Omarzai can also shepherd the batting down the order with Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan for company. 

The bowling lineup for GT has some outstanding quality in the form of Rashid Khan and Spencer Johnson. We all know what Rashid is capable of but Johnson is also a cut above the ordinary. Around them, the cast of Mohit Sharma, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Sai Kishore is a bit wobbly. 

This Gujarat Titans team is much more beatable than in the previous couple of seasons and bettors must take that into account while looking at their past records. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad

The Sunrisers Hyderabad lineup broke all batting records in the previous match. They scored 277 runs batting first, the highest-ever total in IPL history, but only ended up winning by 31 runs. Almost every single batter in their lineup seems to be in good form. Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Aiden Markram, and Heinrich Klaasen are all in terrific touch. 

The pressure will be on Mayank Aggarwal in such a situation because Rahul Tripathi is sitting out of the lineup waiting for an opportunity to open the batting as well. 

With Shahbaz Ahmed and Pat Cummins in the lineup, SRH has a lot of depth. The only question it perhaps needs to address is with its bowling unit. For two matches now, SRH has failed to keep any sort of control on the opposition batters. 

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has had a horror start to IPL 2024 and is going at nearly 13 runs an over. Umran Malik bowled just one over in the previous match showing that Pat Cummins does not have a lot of confidence in him. Maybe it was the conditions or just the matchup but if Cummins cannot find overs from Umran Malik in each match, he may be forced to change the team combination once more. 

Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Markande, and Pat Cummins round out the bowling attack. Apart from Cummins, who  has been brilliant in the two matches so far, every other bowler from SRH has been expensive. This is where SRH will have to find a way to keep things in control otherwise its batting will be under immense pressure in each match.
